I disagree. I am looking to take less money leaving Utah myself...and am happy to do so. Lets not forget that he signed elsewhere last time his contract expired and would have been gone had the Jazz not matched. Even worse was the sentiment here on local radio, TV and Jazz nation at large that they should have let him go since "he's not worth the max". Top that off with the boos and disgust he got when they drafted him...and I'd say it's fairly likely he would be happier if he left.

IMO, Hayward is overrated and he has a larger roll in Jazz's offense than he should have on a good team. He has a good situation in Utah. I doubt he will have as much opportunity in another city.

Meyers does badly need a change in scenery but all of us should be pulling for him if for no
other reason, a decent season from him while Collins is learning only makes it easier for the
team to move him.

not word for word - he said something like make a trade for a veteran on a short term contract and never mentioned Butler or George by name. I took the liberty of explicitly calling out who the Blazers missed out on and adding his signature "Look," and "not even close" catch phrases. but it's 2017 so with fake news and all that's allowed. :)

Oden got nothing on Bennett in terms of "biggest bust"

Edit: I guess you have to consider who went second. Getting picked over Oladipo is nothing, but going over Durant... hmmm nevermind on second thought he has a point.

1984:

1 HOU Hakeem Olajuwon
2 POR Sam Bowie
3 CHI Michael Jordan
4 DAL Sam Perkins
5 PHI Charles Barkley
7 SAS Alvin Robertson
9 KCK Otis Thorpe
11 ATL Kevin Willis
14 LAC Michael Cage
16 UTA John Stockton
46 POR Jerome Kersey

first, Portland lost the coin flip with Houston...then Bowie

that was bigger considering the other options; on the other hand, Bowie was traded for Buck Williams so at least the Blazers got something for investing a 2nd pick in him.

You know who is always left out on missing out on Jordan in that draft is Indiana. They're the team that traded that #2 pick of the '84 draft to Portland. But nobody ever brings up that their mistake is just as bad.

yeah, I had kinda forgot about that until you mentioned it, but then I remembered that Portland got that pick a while before the draft. I couldn't remember the specifics of the trade so I looked it up:

2 weeks before the draft, Portland traded 32 year old C Tom Owens for the 2nd pick. He had average 11 points and 6 rebounds for the Blazers that year. Owens went to Indiana and the next season averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds, shooting 47% while averaging only 0.5 blocks. Indiana then traded Owens after 1 year for the 43rd pick in the 1985 draft....

so yes, while that isn't quite the same as what Portland did, it does have to rank as one of the worst trades in NBA history

That 2013 draft has turned out to be BRUTALLY Bad.
