Let me also say that I am happy with JJ. He is hoppy and I can see the Marion comp. His shot needs work and he looks shorter than advertised but he was BPA for sure.

I am so over ESPN highlighting what shoe Lonzo Ball is wearing every single day.

Lonzo is such an effortless passer, it's mesmerizing. Really keen to see him up against NBA starters- I don't think it will be smooth sailing.

Kyle Kuzma is such a stud. Man the Lakers got a big time steal with that kid.

I don't really watch college ball and I'm not nearly as informed as most of you are. Anyways, I was under the impression JJ played 2 guard, for some reason or another (I haven't seen him play yet.) But I saw he was listed as a F in the Suns summer league roster. Is he a guard being pushed to play forward? Or is he just a 3 period and I was misinformed from jump?

Edit: I see previous post mentions a similarity to Marion, which to me is like a prototypical SF (maybe suns fan bias I honestly don't know because I have watched the Suns so much more than any other basketball). Then again, I think nash is the prototypical PG and I think barkley is the prototypical 4, or Amare in his prime, so obviously maybe I need to watch more ball besides the suns. Actually I started a separate thread for this question because my son didn't want to play Madden with me and I don't want to do the dishes..

JJ is a prototypical SF. Can do a bit of everything and guard multiple positions.

Funny. Knowing that most everyone on this board watched more of the Suns during summer league than this writer did.

And most agree with him. We were favorites on Vegas along with the Lakers, and with good reason. We disappointed.

Jared Dudley knows about this basketball thing a lot.... he said berore the draft that he was impressed by Kuzma and that he has a lot of talent.

Gambo said that he was one of our favourite prospects at #32, but he was chosen before by the Lakers. He seems an steal to me.

Josh Jackson is an SF but he can play some PG, SG and PF too. He is an all around player.
Last year he played PF for Kansas.

Can't say I disagree with their assessment. It's been a huge disappointment for a team with so much potential. Chriss was the biggest disappointment for me. All this talk about him bulking up turned out to be him showing up to SL out of shape. I know it's only been a few months since he last play basketball but he looked as lost and as low IQ as we've seen. Bender on the other hand, still wasn't that exciting but he did have some nice flashes showing his high IQ and some of his skills. Josh Jackson was pretty much as advertised; a high motor guy who will get points, rebounds and make defensive plays just from his energy alone. But his shooting weaknesses still stood out on the court and at the line. I'm not worried at this point since it's what we expect so overall he gets a B for his SL showing.

We were a loser but I think if Ulis had played, it would be very different. Ulis might not be a star but he's shown enough in the 2nd half of last season to prove to me that he would've absolutely dominated in the SL and made everyone's game more efficient.

Yup. I like Kuzma, and would have been very happy if Phoenix was able to get him at 32, but the fact is he is 22, which is a big part of why he is looking much better in Summer League.

Also, the most important thing to keep in mind in Summer League is that it is as meaningless an indicator of future NBA success as judging somebody based on their youtube highlight reels. Guys have thoroughly dominated it who are then out of the league within 2 years. Guys have struggled mightily in it and then become cornerstone NBA players. It is something to watch, and you want guys to be good in it, but it doesn't really mean anything as far as who will or won't be good once the real NBA hits these players.

Kuzma has promise. That's all. And a ton of improvement can happen in a year, let alone 2-3 years. Bender will be a 4th year vet by the team he is Kuzma's current age.

He's going to be an amazing passer straight away. There's more to basketball than passing.

Also everyone is sleeping on how good Simmons may be this season. His passing is just as good, if not better.

Going to be a VERY fun year of basketball.
