Ok am I the only one that heard Woj say Cleveland will have to trade Love for Melo and they're ok with doing that but the Knicks don't want Love as part of their rebuild with youth mantra? Ummm, I'm pretty sure Love has more value around the league than Ryan Anderson to flip to a third team. Why was Woj so quick to dismiss it as if we were the ones not interested in doing a deal with Cleveland?
Did I hear that correctly?

No you didn't hear that correctly because he didn't say that.

Background; I work at UCLA and every summer around this time NBA players come to practice here. Funnily enough I almost closed the door on him and I said sorry. I then noticed it was Melo. I made some small talk and he seemed friendly and I asked him if he was going to stay with the Knicks. He said a stern "no" exactly that just "no." Take it how you will but I find it interesting none of the less. Also less importantly Trevor Ariza and Lou Will were there.
Edit: people calling me out, its not like I said Melo is going to the spurs or something unbelievable.
Edit2: someone wanted the time but I didn't know the exact but before 1:30pm

If true that mirrors the buyout comment Mills made today.

The best thing that could happen right now, is some kind of bidding war between Rockets and Cavs.. (Hard to imagine how it would look like..)

News about LeBron not being happy with what Cavs are doing is a good thing..

But yeah, I don't think Mills fooled anyone with those "We are gonna try to works things out with or without Melo"..

I don't think he was trying to fool anyone. He's not going to do a bad deal just to get rid of Melo. What would be the point?

If by bad you mean you are getting back negative value, than of course.

But if you can get at least something, (Frye, Shumpert, Osman, Felder), you do it.

There is no point in having him on the Knicks. He will win you some games, those pushing you further away in the lottery, and will take away offensive opportunities from the young guys..

If he tried to do that, I would just bench him the entire year. F*ck him. We don't owe him sh*t. And f*ck stephen jackson too.

Everyone talks about what little leverage the Knicks have... what leverage does Melo have? Typically, players have leverage because teams don't want to lose them for nothing. That's because most good players are on playoffs teams. For us, that doesn't even matter. In fact, Melo not playing is somewhat of a benefit. In addition, he's under contract... you can't just force a team to do a terrible deal when they don't mind letting you expire. A contract works both ways. If he doesn't want the contract, void the deal or agree to take none of the remaining money. You can't get paid by the Knicks, make them accept a crap deal and then be a cancer if they don't. That's pretty much the least professional thing I've ever heard.

Oh, I agree, but I don't think Melo gives a sh*t about professionalism at this point. He already yelled at Porzingis last year for saying good things about the triangle. You think he won't be pissed if we essentially sit him the whole year?

Melo has acted like a pro much more so than this organization has with Phil's public criticism and Mills and Dolan's incompetence. You guys are describing some kind of revenge fantasy.

He won't admit it publicly, but it's still a possibility. But I understand, he and Perry are not giving in just yet and nor should they. Stand firm and if we can somehow come out ahead in a deal, then great. The buyout should be the last resort. But if I'm Mills/Perry, I'm still holding on to that card.

With the Rockets up for sale, there's almost no chance they are still gonna be involved in a Melo trade.

This is what I knew was going to happen. Why would Melo want to be with this team after everything management keeps saying. This could turn into a ANOTHER drama filled season if Melo isn't dealt.

Conversely, won't the current Rockets ownership be more inclined to make a Melo trade to boost marketability?

The reason why this deal hasn't happened yet is because the salaries have to match. For the Rockets that means including Ryan Anderson, for the Cavs, Kevin Love. Neither of whom interests the Knicks. And I don't blame them. If they could take back the crew you mentioned, without either of those big salaries, they'd do it. And they'd rather keep Melo another year than take on those bloated contracts. And I agree. What would be the point? Mills isn't bluffing. He's doing the right thing.

Maybe Melo should go tell his new buddies to pay up. If the place he wants to be isn't willing to pay a fair price for him how's that on us

Yep. Let the Rockets and Melo's people hammer out the details, and present us with trades until we get what we want.
