Lonzo is such an effortless passer, it's mesmerizing. Really keen to see him up against NBA starters- I don't think it will be smooth sailing.

I disagree. Take my observation how you want but I thought his assist numbers were a bit inflated by the poor defense in the SL in general. From what I watched (not just highlights), he got quite a few assists and turnovers from just lobbing it ahead, getting caught in midair and standard passes which led to the receiving player needing to do extra work to get the points.

To say he would get the same passing opportunities in the NBA easily would not be fair. Teams run back in the NBA meaning they'll cut off many half full court passes and the defense will make you pay for getting caught in the midair.

I think he's a phenomenal passer but I don't think it would as smooth sailing as you'd expect.

I don't really watch college ball and I'm not nearly as informed as most of you are. Anyways, I was under the impression JJ played 2 guard, for some reason or another (I haven't seen him play yet.) But I saw he was listed as a F in the Suns summer league roster. Is he a guard being pushed to play forward? Or is he just a 3 period and I was misinformed from jump?

Edit: I see previous post mentions a similarity to Marion, which to me is like a prototypical SF (maybe suns fan bias I honestly don't know because I have watched the Suns so much more than any other basketball). Then again, I think nash is the prototypical PG and I think barkley is the prototypical 4, or Amare in his prime, so obviously maybe I need to watch more ball besides the suns. Actually I started a separate thread for this question because my son didn't want to play Madden with me and I don't want to do the dishes..

I don't hate Ball . I don't like Lavar but I still watch Ball with the same critical eyes as I watch Bender or Chriss or Jackson.

Ball should be similar to Jason Kidd eventually... maybe a slightly better 3pt shooter but much worse defender. Maybe a Rondo who can shoot outside but again... much worse defensively.

He will be an impact player either way. He was my 3rd choice after Fultz, Jackson.... so I like his game and projection eventually.

And I know his dad is annoying... but he is doing it intentionally to put his family on the map and it worked. ESPN and pretty much most social media and sports sites have their eyes on Lonzo Ball..... and the family for that matter. As I said previously, no such thing as bad publicity.... unless of course Lavar commits a crime.

I hate Lonzo Ball, but what he did in summer league was impressive. After a few terrible games, the stats he put up were eye popping.

Ball and Ingram could be a real solid core for them.

Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss both shot worse than 40 percent from the floor and didn't exactly dominate the glass (each averaged 6.0 rebounds per game) as Phoenix went 2-4. That isn't exactly reason to believe that the Suns' rebuilding project can be fast-tracked.

I'd say that's fair. I was more disappointed in Quese because he was an inefficient turnover machine and he showed up in not-the-best shape. With that said, I'm not surprised that he wasn't effective as the primary scoring option at this point of his career and I think he'll be just fine when his role is scaled back. Dragan was a bit disappointing to start because he felt like the last option on offense sometimes, but he closed out really strong and even Watson appeared to take note of it. His last game was probably the best I've ever seen him play in a Suns jersey, and he looked very good the game before as well. I don't think we had any reason to think we were ready for fast tracking either; we won 23 games this season with plenty of veterans, Bledsoe playing at a near AS level, and Booker starting to really emerge as a scorer. That doesn't sound like a team ready to take the next step yet. It's important to remember that they are far from finished products and are roughly the same age as a lot of these rookies, they're even younger than JJ is, so they have a lot of room to grow and improve.

-7.3pts per100 with Bledsoe
-8.6pts per100 with Ulis
-10.0pts per100 with Booker

And not just with Chriss. It's consistent with Booker, Len, Bledsoe, Warren and even Chandler.
