Nothing has changed. And when I say that, I mean from the beginning. I know it feels like things are swinging based on these press conferences and sources, but it doesn't mean much when it comes to negotiations. 99.44% of this is the simple stuff we all already know: Carmelo and the Knicks have mutually accepted that he'd be better off elsewhere, and Carmelo has given them two teams he'd waive his NTC for. At the same time Carmelo is also under contract for the next year exclusively to the Knicks.
All of this will come down to what the Knicks want to do, not Carmelo. Do they want to hold his contract or do they want to move it two one of the two Anthony-approved destinations? I know you're shaking your head reading this because I'm not bringing up any new information, but that's the point - none of this recent stuff is new information in the sense that his any bearing on the decision that is being made between the Knicks and Carmelo. There's really not much leverage to be had by other teams simply because moving Carmelo isn't being done to change the big-picture trajectory of the Knicks franchise.
Houston (or Cleveland) on the other hand, stand to be significantly affected by his acquisition.

i dont think the leverage is back to houston. The knicks can hold out and wait.
Rockets need melo, we dont need the rockets, at least not if it means taking abck ryan anderson, or however this guy's name is spelled. I think our FO is perfectly fine with 2 years of melo and just letting him go. Melo will expand his list of teams, if the situation is unbareable.but to be quite honest, I think its all nonsense. Melo wants to be with his family and his family will be on the east coast. i doubt all the talk about melo wanting houston NOW are true.
its all made up to leverage the deal in houstons favor. Morey has a history of ripping the knicks and i actually like the knicks pulling melo from talks. If houston wants to compete, melo is one of the few options they have. They will make it work, at the deadline.
the bold is the bottom line...
Houston has an aging CP3 for one reason only. They are in WIN NOW mode. Available players like Melo at his salary don't grow on trees. The Rockets have NO SHOT at getting past the Warriors if they dont add Melo- period...
It comes down to this. Morey wants to get better now and not sacrifice the future. Problem is that you cant have both. Either you roll with what you have and hope for the best or you sacrifice something now for a chance at a title.

Re: Melo Trade Thread - Sorry Melo, these are the breaks
Let's get back to 'Melo rumors...
-A report has 'Melo not wanting to come back to the Knicks
-He doesn't want to reconcile with Perry & Mills; wants Rockets
-According to Woj, Trailblazers players are recruiting 'Melo hard... showing him the love
-Mills said no to any 'Melo buyout talks
-One rumor had us wanting Bledsoe in a Melo to HOU 3-way but PHX wants to send Knight, instead
Anyhow, given all this, I would wait it out like the Knicks are doing and see if we can get more teams (Toronto, Cleveland, Washington, etc.) to reach out to 'Melo like Portland is doing so he can open up his team list. Let's get a bidding war going for the last remaining all-star on the market...

Why does there need to be a face on trades/acquisitions? They obviously want to work as a team. I get it though. We need someone to blame. However I think this time we would need someone to praise.

The real test will be when they disagree on a player or action, does Perry have the freedom and autonomy to do what he wants or will Mills override him and force him to act on Mills opinion?
I doubt Perry has the autonomy to do what he wants if Mills disagrees and I won't believe he does have it until I see it.
I doubt Perry has the autonomy to even tell us when he disagrees with Mills. They won't want us to know they can't agree. They don't want to look crazy like that guy who used to run the Knicks.

Until Houston is officially out of it, he's really got nothing else to say it appears.

Our Roster can not be nearly set for next year. I need some moves to take place today because I am losing my mind. Trade Courtney Lee or Melo today Please. Sign a G-League player with potential or just do anything at all. The anticipation of this Melo trade is killing me a little inside every day.

Biggest need is a vet point guard. That may be resolved with the Melo move who knows.

Steve Mills says he and GM Scott Perry may make changes to the front office going forward: "We're going to rebuild what the front office of the Knicks looks like. I feel really good about a lot of the people we have working for us. But we also know there's room for us to grow and get better if we want to be a first-class organization," Mills said. "And Scott will have the freedom to sort of meet with everyone in our organization (and make changes) where he sees there's opportunities to bring new people into the organization. He has the flexibility to do that and we'll work as a tandem in making sure that we have a first class operation." Added Perry: "I'll be in a position to make strong suggestions to Steve that maybe we need to add some more to our group. The goal is we want to have first in class when it comes to our front office operational staff. That's our goal and we're going to go at this thing together."
