Wild Idea On A Quiet FA

Post#1 » by OnFire » Wed Jul 19, 2017 4:20 pm

Just a thought that came as the Free Agency for us has been pretty silent lately.

Here it is:

Could it be that our replacement for PG at the 3 is actually our starting C? Meaning: Do you think that Myles Turner is capable to play that spot what with his shooting, IQ, and length? He could be our version of KD.

He's still only 21 and, perhaps, can be groomed to play the part.

If so, maybe we target a starting-caliber rim protector the rest of the way in FA, say, Nerlens Noel, whose camp, according to Wiretap, is disappointed with negos with DAL. Maybe trade a package of Thad + All Jeff or Thad + GRIII for him? If so:

C: Noel / Seraphin / (Al Jeff / Sabonis)
PF: Sabonis / Leaf / Seraphin
SF: Myles / Bogdanovic / (GRIII)
SG: Oladipo / Lance / (GRIII)
PG: DC / Joseph / Lance

Just sharing some wild thoughts to make our beloved P's a tad more interesting, if not better. ;)

Your thoughts. 8-)

That is a pretty wild thought. Unfortunately, Turner possesses neither the speed, especially lateral nor the ball-handling ability to be a three. At times, there is even question about his ability to cover stretch fours on defense. Also, he's an ideal rim protector, so having him play defense on the perimeter would virtually take him from being a positive on defense and immediately turning him into a liability.

No he's a Center or a PF trying to make him a SF would be a disaster. Yes he's a shot blocker but he couldn't guard guys smaller and quicker.

I suppose theoretically he could play the spot. I doubt he would play it well, just not quick enough. Right now we need to solely worry about how he fits best and build around him and at SF is not the best fit for him.

Sabonis probably isn't good enough to start anyway. Noel + Turner would be a good combo I think
