We won 37 games last season and:

ATL lost Millsap & Dwight
CHI lost Butler
IND lost PG13

We lost:

Mook, KCP, Baynes (Beno)

We added:

AB, Galloway, Tolliver (Kennard)

Assuming RJ is the same as last season I think it's still fair to believe we win 38 games.

We got worse on paper.

If Reggie and Drummond start balling again, we will be better. Big IFS though (esp Reggie).

And other teams got worse more than us. I see us battling in that 7-9 seed range in the East.

AB is better than Mook by a long way

KCP from late January through April was terrible - Galloway & Kennard should at least be better than that.

So I dont agree we got worse on paper.

Even if Dre & RJ duplicate last season we upgraded our shooting, defense and brought more leadership to the group as well.

The pessimism is so strong that people can't even wait to see how the team plays for a month before throwing **** out there!

I can't stand people pretending Morris is more than an average player at best.
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

He was worth a lot more than we paid for him, but yeah, except that hot streak to end 15-16, he was a below average starter at forward. Still a great pickup at the time.

Losing a 41% fg, 33% fg3 forward who stops the offense and plays average defense isn't a massive downgrade. It's an opportunity, instead.

YUP. If anything it's addition by subtraction. The dude got way too much credit for being mediocre. He would get really hot for a couple games and everyone would forget that he had been terrible for the previous 10 games.
Even when his mid-range/iso ball was on FIRE I would still hate it because it just wasn't good basketball/not sustainable.

Morris was in the 90%tile in isolation scoring and best on the team in that regard iso is still very important, it isn't close to addition by subtraction.

Marcus Morris went from massively underrated to quite the opposite in his short time here. I think Boston will be a great spot for him and his skill set, but we were asking him to do way too much here.

I'm very curious to see the adjustment we will make while we transition to a more team-oriented/ball-movement offense. I'm actually excited to see how SJ will fair replacing Morris.

It's not like his ISO game was bailing us out at the end of the shot-clock, that would be very important & helpful.
Instead his ISO play was using up the shot-clock and discouraging team-play, ball-movement, etc.
It is indeed addition by subtraction, 41% FG for a forward is pathetic.
33% from 3-point? Nobody respected that, his defenders would routinely leave a large gap & pack the paint, preventing Reggie from driving without seeing multiple defenders.
Spacing is extremely important when we run the same high pick-n-roll over and over,

This reminds me of when Tayshaun left, we would constantly run plays to post up Tayshaun for inefficient ISO's, long 2s, etc.
Good riddance to both of them.
