I think 20 mil for 4 would be ideal, basically we get a better vet KCP for same price. IMO if we pay any more, the trade now becomes not as favorable

i forget what the extension rules are but basically at AB's current contract there's no incentive for him to sign an extension this offseason.

next offseason? it depends how well kennard and galloway do but the difference between signing AB to a big (~$18+ million AAV) deal and letting him walk is huge for us in terms of cap flexibility.

i haven't watched a ton of bradley play so i'm going to wait until i actually watch him regularly, but a lot of it depends on how well he performs/fits with us next year.

Not a penny until we see how he fits... this will be KCP II in a year.
One thing to consider is length of the deal... AB relies on athleticism... with his calling card being defensive mobility.

I guaransheed that no team will offer him 30 million. That being said, I could see us offering 20 million per year, AB asking for 25, and eventually settling for a shorter deal, something like 3 years, 23 million per year with a PO on the 3rd year.

To early to say but somewhere in that 20-25 sounds about right looking at other deals around the league. Of course it depends on how well he plays and next years market.

Can't offer him much right now due to the CBA rules around extensions

I believe there was a article about it when we acquired him

6 months after his acquisition the CBA allows for a more generous extension but if memory serves that would still be significantly less than $20 mil per so I think he'll "test the market" next off-season

Me thinks the OP is using this thread as a stepping stone to an argument.

Is there a safe or practical answer? --- $19 million per, for me.

One would hope no one would start a thread just to start a argument that's already happening in another thread.

I believe Blkbrd posted something to the effect of IF KCP is worth $18 mil and Dipo is worth $21 mil then AB is worth $25 mil

So, going by that Blkbrd believes AB is worth $25 mil...

One would hope that we could keep him for that but you never know.

70x3 could be a reasonable deal.

Trade him in February before we are the fools of the story.

By February likely they'll know if that's the right course of action. It's certainly one possibility.

A KCP type offer. My guess is his 3 point shooting declines here. The system, looks, and teammates just aren't going to be as favorable for that.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Not resigning Bradley would be terrible for us

Lose KCP for nothing and Mook as well leaving a huge hole at SG

Kennard and Galloway at SG is not a good look unless Kennard comes out playing like a ROY candidate

right now i agree in that it would leave a big hole, but that's why it's best to see how the season unfolds.

What in the world makes you think Van Gundy trades expiring players with value on or before the Trade Deadline? Monroe, KCP? :banghead:
