What does our future lineup for 2008 looklike.

What options do we have at catcher? Will Ruben Gotay be our everyday 2B?

a lot of people want castro to be the everyday catcher...but there's just no way. he is a career .233/.312/.405 hitter. no frickin' way.

ronny paulino apparently has caught omar's eye. in his first full season he was .310/.360/.394. not a lot of power, but as long as you're not a black hole in the lineup (castro as an everyday player is), we'll have plenty of other power options in wright, beltran and (maybe?) milledge.

I don't think they'll go with both Gomez and Milledge as their everyday OFs. They'll probably let one of them start, and sign another Veteran bat (maybe like a Jermaine Dye). As for 2B, Luis Castillo, Tadahito Iguchi are the best FAs available.
As for Catcher, Micheal Barrett and Ivan Rodriguez are FAs. Or make a trade for Bengie Molina. I heard about the rumor about Ronny Paulino as well. Ram

barrett is a mediocre offensive player but we don't need an all-star lineup. i'd rather have him than a 37 year-old pudge.

not to start a fight or anything vin, but based on barrett's err..."physical" history with his pitchers...he sort of sounds like he'd be bad in the clubhouse...

For me, I'd love to see if Gotay can keep this pace or just .300 hitter with solid defense for the rest of the year up. Remember this guy was one of KCstop hitting prospects but like many, rushed up. He has a change of scenery and is making the most of it. He should just stick to be a lefty hitter because he is terrible from the right hand side.

barrett.. na.. I want a very good defensive catcher or a guy who can hit, play solid defense and handle the staff. Posada is an option too but imnot sure if he can keep his play up.

well there's maybe 3 or 4 catchers who fit the description of "can hit, play good defense and handle the staff"

mauer isn't going anywhere
victor martinez isn't going anywhere
russell martin will probably stay in LA

and if posada ends up a met, i'll eat my shoe. he's one of those "true yankees" (the phrase no one can define yet every sportswriter loves to toss around).

and i guess if you want to throw away martinez's offense because he's supposedly awful at defense, i can assure you that .304/.375/.477 more than makes up for defensive shortcomings.

barrett is one of the last guys i want ina met uni, team cancer and calls a shytty game.. id much rather keep loduca than bring on barrett or an aged possible exroid user in ivan. whats wrong wit loduca? hes throwing out runners a lil better although its still mediocre but then again very few catchers nowadays not named molina throw runners out at a decent rate.. im not saying you have to resign him but dont lose him for some **** like barrett or 37 year old on the decline...

Pudge can rake still. Obviously he has never been an OBP machinebut he'll play solid D, handle the staff great and he will hit.

Flores is a national, they took him in the rulle 5 draft. We have NO catcher prospect worth waiting on in our farm becuase Pena is terrible. He is young but he is terrible.
