Just reported on ESPNEWS. I would never think he would die this early. R.I.P.

Damn...one of my all time favorite players.

RIP shooter, RIP.

Classic Beck:

"living in his mobile home outside the outfield fence and drinking beer with fans when they dropped by to visit."

I remember ESPN doing a story on that, just great.

RIP Beck.

Seemed like a good guy that had his troubles. Its sad though. My prayers to his wife and 2 kids.

I didnt realize he was this young. He had his best season in '91. He would have been 22 at the time. I really thought he was much older than that.

As a younger guy, he was the first "closer" I ever really recognized - I guess because of his appearance and persona.

RIP.

Other than being a good relief pitcher, what's memorable about Beck is that he looks like 1 of the relief pitchers from back in the day. Like Bruce Sutter, Goose Gossage[when he had the FuManchu], Rollie Fingers, Vukovich...can't remember how 2 spell his name but he was a Brewers starter in the early 80's.

That reminds me. Any report on how he died? Was it cause of the excessive heat in Zona, or something else?

Couldn't have said it better. I hope his family is doing well. Rest in Peace.

It seemed like he was in every game with the R. Sox in 2001.
