Kyrie wants to be the man but wants to go to San Antonio? He realizes Leonard is there right? Unless he thinks he'll be traded for him LOL

So the Cavs would rather go for spite to give some team a chance to beat GS rather than get good assets in return? What is wrong with my fellow Eastern conference teams? Who out there actually wants to make an effort to improve the competitive position of your team?

It was a preferred destination *for Kyrie* but if Leonard isn't on the table, I can't see the Cavs caring about his preferences.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

As a Jazz fan, I think the Jazz could offer Favors/Hood + Rubio and a pick, and then I ask myself if this would actually make the Jazz better. Kyrie doesn't like to pass the ball.

Kyrie/Frye/Shumpert for Melo/O'Quinn/Lee - and probably multiple first round picks.

Why would the Cavs do this trade?

That's an awful return for them.

Three reasons:

First, Melo might be the best player we could trade for right now

Second, Melo would make LeBron happy

Third, the multiple first round picks in case LeBron leaves

I obviously would want a better return. But aside from Kyrie for Cousins straight up (which the Pelicans might not even want to do since they just paid Jrue all that money), not sure there is even a better possibility.

No thanks. He wouldn't be "the man" here either, so he would pout his way off the team ASAP just like Andre Miller did to us.

Don't think he wants to "be the man". He'd actually fit really well with Blake but I understand not wanting him

I believe Kyrie is in Asia promoting his shoe right now, it will be interesting to see what he says about all of this. What a mess for Cleveland right now.

They trade him for the best package possible. He has two years left and we could get start a decent rebuild. We maximize his return.

He wouldn't want to be the leading man in a post-Bron Cleveland. Which is why this "I don't want to play with Bron anymore" line is bull. Kyrie would stay if Lebron committed to 3 more years. But it's obvious Kyrie sees the writing on the wall, and doesn't want to be left over with the Cavs **** roster.

He can't have it both ways. He's not going to be "the man" on any actually good team, so he might as well stay and compete for titles with LeBron.

Because he knows Lebron is leaving.

LeBron is still under contract for this upcoming season. If this was about LeBron leaving, he'd be forcing his way out next offseason.

It'd make the Jazz a lot better IMO. Utah really needs someone who can reliably score.

But I wouldn't take that unless we had no other choice..it'd have to be multiple picks

Kyrie plus a couple top 10 picks in the next draft is a good kick start. Then Boston is your W's answer in the east.

So he wants to be "the man" and his preferred destination is another team with a bonafide superstar?

I'm sure if Bron committed to staying for the next 3 years, Kyrie would too. You think Kyrie is gonna let Bron leave his ass with an old af roster with horrible contracts? He's only 25. Isn't 26 officially "your prime"? He could get a good year in with Miami or NY developing chemistry with their all-star big men. After a summer of adding pieces since players want to play with Kyrie (surprisingly enough since he's ball-dominant) they could maybe contend in the East honestly once he's 26.

He's not an MVP player because a team with him as the best player will never win more than 40-45 games.

He's a great 2nd option, that is his best role. A PG who can't operate an offense, play defense and isn't willing to play off ball isn't winning much.

Dude. The marketing department wants to see you. Of course Kyrie is MVP material.

Not in a league where LeBron/KD/Harden/Curry/Westbrook/Kawhi exist

I don't buy that he wants to leave merely to get out of LeBron's shadow, has to be something more going on. He's not really sacrificng much at all, he still gets ~20 shots per game and gets to focus on scoring while LeBron handles most of the facilitating. And even if he went to the Spurs he'd still be the 2nd best player next to Kawhi anyway.
