Why are folks surprised? The Cavs are not a well-run franchise, just a ridiculously lucky one. They squandered LeBron's first tenure. They hired and fired the same head coach -- *twice*. Their owner tried his hardest to burn bridges with the best player of his generation. They blew a #1 overall pick. They hired a HC and fired him midway through the season (at some point, they had to be paying 3 HC salaries at once, right?). They let their GM twist in the wind, only to fire him after a number of attractive job openings were filled.
GS' owners and front office may be arrogant and insufferable, but they're also darn good at their jobs. CLE is just insanely lucky. But for the fact that they a) fell butt-backwards into 3 #1s in 4 years as Miami aged out of their championship window, and b) happen to be located in LeBron's backyard, they'd be a treadmill team like so many others. It's no surprised that, despite being dealt an awesome hand, it appears that they'll only eke out one chip from both LeBron eras. Amazing.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.
