Hard to think of an obvious trade partner. What teams need a ball dominant, ISO scorer PG who is questionable at best defensively, and has had some injury issues in the past.

Spoelstra, Thibs, and Pop all seems like they would hate having Kyrie. I am rooting for NYK. Watching Melo and Kyrie fight each other over the ball while giving up 130 ppg would be funny to watch.

The storylines will say Kyrie was the one who quit, not LeBron....

This is all so bizarre.

Dirk has been staying in Dallas for years because of love for the franchise. You don't have to leave the team every time things get hard....

I agree with you fully. I just think the way this has worked out, LeBron is now set up very nicely for a relatively quiet exit from Cleveland.

I hate the Cavs, but I fear Kyrie as a Celtics fan more than almost any other scorer. Lebron is the best basketball player in the world and has a skillset that nobody else has on his level so it's dumb to compare. But one thing Lebron had Kyrie do was carry the offense on some nights and it allowed Lebron's true game come through as facilitator first. Kyrie was a closer for Cleveland and that can't be mistaken. Kyrie is a player who can make tough shots even when defended great. He's even better at that then Lebron.

Can we examine why he wants to go?

Other than New York, we know the other three teams on his list have strong structures in place, and the Knicks are close to home. Given what we've been hearing about Cleveland this off-season (Griffin, players telling free agents not to come, the concern about LeBron leaving, and Billups turning them down) is it possible that he either wants to go home, or be in a more stable organization?

Good trade for both teams imo. Irving is going to get undersold and he's overrated anyway playing along LBJ. The idea that Favors/Hood/Rubio isn't enough for Irving is laughable. That is way more return than Cleveland will get. I still think Wiggins/filler for Irving is a good trade for both sides.

Edit: Wiggins with a contract extension.

Why would the Cavs even want Love/Lebron/Melo? All three of them play their best at the 4 and you cant play them together without having league worst defense.

0 chance this ever happens. If Utah makes an offer its going to be Favors and Rubio as the key parts from Utah. Im a huge Kyrie fan, but Utah hangs up the phone laughing if Cleveland asks for Gobert for Kyrie.

Definitely worse.

Bledsoe + Melo are not as good as Kyrie. This isn't a good trade for Cavs.

Cavs should try and get young pieces back.

No way in Hell are they beating the Warriors with that team.

I would go after Minnesota or Milwaukee's assets.

Even if the Heat do make the playoffs, the fact that they're on his list even though they currently employ Dion Waiters - who didn't get along with Kyrie in Cleveland and vice versa - shows how desperate Kyrie is for touches and stats.

It's not just when he was 21. Over the past three seasons, Kyrie and Kevin Love went 4-12 together when LeBron wasn't playing. That is abysmal, and that's *with* another All-Star in the lineup alongside him.

Kyrie wasn't the sole reason for the dysfunction, but he was a major contributor to it.

Woj just said on Sportscenter the team was built around James...A slower team than what would be fashioned to Irving...Also, if James wasnt unsure about next year prob wouldnt be happenning...He doesnt want to be left there with a team not suited for his game...

Slow-pace team with defensive roleplayers would be a great supporting cast for Kyrie. Add in another star and he could have a great team. He won 33 games at age 21 with Waiters as his best teammate.

Waiters is a scorer though...I think thats the key...Not these spot up guys, but guys who can run and gun...Its just what theyre saying, and the message Irving got when they signed him apparently...More of a Nash style offense..

I dont know how i feel about this...

--Mags

BS senses tingling. So Love isn't moved, and it would be a Love-Melo-James backcourt? That doesn't make sense. And without Kyrie, there's no way LeBron stays in Cleveland now. If anything, shouldn't all that turn Melo off on Cleveland?

I think its pretty clear thats what it is. If all youre thinking about is personal touches and stats Pop, Thibs and Riley run organizations would not be the first ones I think of. New York makes a ton of sense because hes from Jersey and it is New York and the Knicks plus they have KP there.

If Cleveland tries to offer Irving for Gobert, Utah laughs to death and tells Cleveland to go **** themselves.

Theres this Little thing with nba trades.
You need to make SALARYS MATCH.

Thats why Deng Is Needed.

And since Cavs would be rebuilding and would not have an inmediate need for Capspace its not a big deal, Two years later it is a great piece to have as a massive expiring.

Shame the NBA finals will be less interesting next season.

The Cavs are pretty much guaranteed to be worse next season.
