Actually, it sounds like something Kobe, Wilt, LeBJ, Barkley, or MJ might have said. In the old days, Big E used to say things like that. Sometimes it motivates, sometimes it doesn't. When Magic was a rookie, I recall Jabbar having some public tough love words about him, granted they were more articulate and carefully chosen.

   it's not "tough love" Wall literally wants otto to be traded. He literally thinks Markieff Morris is better than Otto. Ask yourself, what actually makes Otto Porter a "role player"? is it lack of ability, or the fact that Wall and Morris take away about 7 or 8 shots that should go to Otto every single night. I don't view this as "tough love"

I mean come on, otto takes 7 more shots per game he's a 20+ point scorer, probably an all star and talked about as one of the top players in the nba, no-one questions whether or not he "deserves" a max contract. it isn't tough love, Wall is just wrong and has no idea what he should say publicly and what he should keep to himself.

Wall probably should have kept his mouth shut. Still, Porter seems like a guy who doesn't appear to care and it shouldn't have an effect on him. Hell, if Porter decides to be a bit more selfish as a result of these statements, then it probably benefits the Wizards in the long run.

As for Wall preferring Porter over Morris, I think Wall is slightly more realistic in his trade fantasies. He probably didn't think that Morris and a filler would be enough to get Paul George. Although given what OKC gave up for George, maybe it wasn't that unrealistic.

John Wall is not Aristotle. I think he says stuff that don't always come out the way he means it. Does he really think that Morris is better than Otto or did he mean to say he was expendable because PG plays his position. Who really cares at this point. John also criticized himself (in another article) by saying he needs to get in better shape so he's not completely dead like he was at the end of the Boston series. Probably couldn't spend as much time on conditioning last year (ok he couldn't) due to the knee surgeries.

I just hope he keeps raising his game because he's fun to watch. The best D.C. athlete I've seen since the "Big E and "Riggo" and hopefully we keep him more than just two more years. As for Otto, I'll keep that for another thread.

I do agree with this, the obvious example would be the Beal thing where he said "we have a tendency to dislike each other on the court" All of use wizards fans knew what he meant, they have a competitive brother like relationship where they argue and stuff, but everyone on the outside went crazy over those poorly chosen words.

with that being said, I do not think he miss-worded these Otto comments at all, just like he did NOT accidentally scoff at the 1st team all defense selections, which is bizarre based on the season Wall had defensively. He simply just does not think Otto is very good, and otto is.....very good.

I woke up to this....LOL. Damn man...look i know it's about sports...but sports is entertainment IF you are not competing directly (coaching, training, playing, managing, etc...)!

you gotta admit haters make it entertaining. We all see through NatP4...but why get mad about it- just enjoy the ride

(i say that now because there are no games that i am personally invested in)

John agreed to the DPVE (4th year is a player option). That means he will spend the first 12 years of his career here in DC. He will retire the greatest player in franchise history.

John Wall signs extension.

:D

Wizards now have their top three players under contract for at least the next four seasons.

Glad he stayed. I'd say he's probably mildly overpaid now but this seems to be the going rate for a franchise player..

Hopefully Ted does the right thing and gets him a GM to reward Wall for his loyaly....

Well 3 for Porter since he has a player option.

He's a good man. I'm glad he got paid and relish the idea of watching him play here another few years. Good on Ted for getting it done.

You know what, the offseason hasn't been that bad after all. So F Bill Simmons on Wall going to the Lakers in 2018 (lol).

1)Porter re-signs
2)Wall will be a Wizard until 2023.
3)And three "meh" moves but at least they didn't overspend i.e. Nicholson, Mahinmi, Smith or bring in bums like Thornton and Burke (and later Jennings).

Awesome to have this commitment from Wall, this is a key moment in the franchise over the last decade-plus.

A lot of people speculated that Wall would be unhappy the Wizards can't sign a star in FA, but I think one thing he noticed is how eaasily star players are being moved around in the league nowadays. Washington now has a full payroll, but in today's league that doesn't mean they can't still make moves to get better.

I hear Kyrie is available, we could use him as a nice 15mpg backup for John

This offseason was fine. It's played out for us exactly the way it should have. The only things that really sucked were not being able to make a credible offer for Paul George when he suddenly became available and losing Bojan and thus wasting our first round pick.

Last offseason is the one that **** us over. Mahinmi + Nicholson was a total mess, and not working an extension out with Porter back in October means he probably got himself about 8-9 million more per season plus a friggin player option.
