If Dan Gilbert knows LeBron is leaving, why not trade him to Boston now?

If he actually picked the Celtics next year. Every Celtics fan would be jumping for joy as they go to the finals with a good chance to actually win a title or 2.

Agree KD basically further Normalized what Lebron did the first time. It was amazing after how much heat Lebron took, that KD pulled the same crap only Times 10. Now basically anything goes in the nba, no one can do anything as extreme as KD, so any player can basically get away with anything they want in terms of free agency.

...yes, and Cavs are a Kyrie ankle or Love knee from losing in the ECF to Boston.

We still beat Boston with either of those players injured. And why do people think Lebron has any interest in joining the Lakers? Every time a players contract is about to be up we always have to hear rumors that the player wants to go to the Lakers, yet that never happens. The Lakers are terrible right now. How would the supporting cast be better than Love and Kyrie even if they got another player to go with him?

Lebron humiliated a 60-win Atlanta team by himself basically. I don't see how this Celtics team is better than that Hawks team. Give him Kyrie or Love and he beats them handily.

If (when) Lebron leaves, either Lebron will be the bad guy or Gilbert will be. Gilbert won with the Cleveland fans last time, but if (when) Lebron leaves now there will not be another homecoming so whoever wears the black hat is going to keep it.

Twice?

He had no choice it was a sign and trade, he was signing with Miami anyway

I dont think enough people understand just how much better LeBron is over everyone else in the East. This guy is head and shoulders better and is arguably still the best player in the game. Replace the best player on any East playoff caliber team with Lebron and they become the favorites in the conference.

No Trade Clause?

Other than that you took the words out of my mouth - Trade him and get some draft picks. The dude already fired the best gm he has ever had

I agree, if I were Dan Gilbert, I'd make a deal behind closed doors. Ask Bron where he wants to go, and if he's willing to waive the NTC...then you do it. Grab some serious young talent and put yourself in a position to stay relevant for the next 3-5 years.

We all know if Bron just decides to walk...Cavs won't even make the playoffs. Is one more trip to the finals worth it? To just finish 2nd again? I wouldn't put it past Dan Gilbert if he tries trading him.

"The big lesson was if a player is not willing to extend, no matter who they are, no matter where they are playing, no matter what kind of season you had, you cannot risk going into a summer and having them leave in unrestricted free agency and get nothing back for it," Gilbert said in 2012, via Cleveland.com's Jodie Valade. "It's not the player's fault. That's on ownership."

Gilbert has no leverage..literally. With Lebron's NTC, Lebron is only getting traded if he wants too. There has been no indication that Lebron wants to get traded. And if he wanted to get traded, he'll go wherever he wants, for minimal returns. Imagine what PG's leverage was, x10 due to the no trade clause.

All trying to trade Lebron will do is make Gilbert the least popular man in Cleveland. Dan Gilbert is a pretty mediocre owner, and someone i really dislike....that being said, this current mess is really not on him. All he can do is pray that Lebron stays.

I guess Lebron's really leaving since they're looking to move Kyrie. Sad day in Cleveland imo.
