Maybe because on the Eagles, he's not bringing the overall talent level down by QBing.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread II
Geronimo suspended Game 1 for MJ from 6 or 8 months ago:
https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2017/7/19/16000252/packers-wr-geronimo-allison-receives-1-game-suspension-for-marijuana-charge
I'm not sure if this helps or hurts his efforts to make the team, but he's going to be in a battle.
On one hand, they know what they have in him, and now since he won't count against the 53 week one, there's no need to cut him early or decide on him right away. On the other hand, if he's not available that puts him a little lower on the WR scale and in week 2 he could be at the mercy of positional need (depending on injuries and needs elsewhere on the roster). It's not a safe place to be at the bottom of 53 as injuries arise and team needs change.
Big 3:
Jordy, Cobb, Adams
Safe Draft picks:
5th round Davis (2016), & 5th round Yancey
Doubtful TT allows 5th round picks to be cast aside quickly. Maybe an injury to stash them if they are struggling but I don't see him giving up quickly. Yancey is pretty safe, and Davis would have to be really really bad to give up so quickly, so even if he's OK he's pretty safe for this year.
(that's 5 spots)
Battle:
Janis, Dupre, Geronimo (there's also the McCaffrey son but he's probably PS bound if he does well).
Fighting for 1 or 2 spots. It might only be one. Last year we had less TE's and less RBs to worry about, this year we might keep one more which might keep the WRs to only 6. Although if we only keep 2 QBs it could allow for a 7th WR.
In Janis favor is speaking a special teams ace. But his days of being an exciting WR prospect are almost over. If anyone can show the same potential on ST and be a good WR prospect, Janis loses all leverage.
Dupre has in his favor being a 7th round pick. Also he's an intriguing prospect, his draft status would be a lot higher if his college team wasn't a mess at QB. He might be an actual stud. It's risky to let him go, and if he shows anything in preseason he's a must keep as he wouldn't make it to the Practice Squad. We all remember Charles Johnson.
Geronimo has in his favor last year's body of work, he starting coming on towards the end. While having that familiarity and proven ability is solid, at the same time they know what they have in him vs guys like unknown Dupre who seem to be dripping with talent.
I could see Geronimo as the odd man out. With a good summer and some production last here he could catch on somewhere else, or at least make it back on the PS.
If we keep 6 I think Janis and Geronimo are cut. If we go 7 deep then its on Geronimo if he can look like a potential stud on STs and continue to improve his WR game.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread II
I would say going into camp Geronimo is the leading contender for the #4 wr position. Not saying he can't lose it but after what he did down the stretch last year I think he's clearly a step above the rest
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I'd guess there's no chance he's cut since he'll be on the suspended list. Granted only one week, but anything could happen in that week.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread II
Fun records to watch for this season.
I was randomly going through all time receptions as Driver deservedly was elected into the Packers Hall of Fame. Driver sits at #1 @ 743 receptions.
#2 Sharpe 595 (kinda crazy he's #2 overall after all these years and the way the game is way more passing oriented now then his time and his career was cut many years short of his potential).
#3 Lofton 530
#4 Jordy 497
The last 3 years Jordy (excluding 2015) did 85,98,97 receptions. He's 33 receptions away from Lofton, if he averages 6 rec a game, he should pass Lofton around game 6. He's 98 away from Sharpe. If he has a similar year as 2014 or 2016, it could be exciting that his last game of 2017 deep in the 4th quarter (if we aren't resting guys) could be where he gets his 99th catch on the year and becomes the number TWO alltime in receptions.
He'd still need another 1.5 years at least to catch Driver and still be producing as a #1 WR. That is going to be hard to tell as he's already 32 years old. He'll be a FA in 2019 and might be 40-60 receptions away from the record (assuming no loss in production). Maybe he takes a reduced contract at 34yrs old and rides out into the sunset as Packer and gets the record.
But for now this year will be a fun year to watch Jordy climb passed Lofton and maybe Sharpe.
