It would be pretty pointless to resign him if Lebron books it. So wouldnt be nice to get a slight downgrade from Kyrie to IT for one year and make one more run at the title, then once Lebron leaves, let IT walk and you got 1 or 2 1st round picks or a 1st round pick and Jaylen Brown to start a rebuild around.

If LeBron is leaving in a year I make Kyrie put up with LeBron for another year then let Kyrie be the man like he wants. Since it's much more likely LeBron is in Cleveland for awhile i'd need enough that the Celtics wouldn't be able to trade for another star to swap Kyrie and Thomas.

I think its pretty clear Kyrie wants out and wont resign when his deal is up. So might as well get some assets back for him and not let him walk for nothing. Again if you only have Lebron for 1 more year, a Kyrie for IT switch isnt that drastic of a step back, if you can get a couple 1st round picks or a young player like Jaylen and a pick for after Lebron leaves when you know you wont be competing. Why not do it.

It doesn't make sense for Boston in the short term because it would have to be IT plus to make salaries match. If you add in Crowder and some other guys you are helping your rival too much. Cav's biggest weakness is depth.

It doesn't make sense for Boston in the long term because Irving might not stay in Boston past 2 years. IT at the max is scary, but you know you probably won't lose him for nothing in a few years if you are willing to pay it.

The trade that does make a lot of sense is CP3. He is better then Irving and his window lines up nicely with Lebron. The Rockets can't bee looking forward to giving him the super max given his age and the contract they have with Harden.

Exactly, if Kyrie wants to be a 1 man show again and have 'his' own team I would trade him to a team thats a bottom feeder and let him do just that. If he wants to put the Cavs in a bad position by demanding a trade, I am def. not doing him any favors by trading him to a contender or anybody with a top 25 player on their team.

A trade to Phoenix for Bledsoe/Jackson
A trade to Charlotte for Kemba/Batum
A trade to Sacramento for Fox/Koufos/1st

Not a trade to Boston, Minnisota or San Antonio.

If hes going to put the Cavs in a bad spot, I am putting him in a equally bad spot by shipping him to the highest bidder with the most assets in return regardless of where that team is located.

If Kyrie makes this request a year from now, no one would blame him. But the fact is you just went to three straight finals, man. And the Cavs might have WON the first two if Kyrie was healthy. From the outside, Kyrie seems to care more about ego & image than winning

Cavs will not trade their 2nd best player to their conference rival. I expect Kyrie to be traded to a Western Conference team if Cavs ideed trade Kyrie.

Which part? Would you really rather have Thomas than Irving?

A Bledsoe package would also presumably include other pieces too. Bledsoe himself is a great athlete and super strong for his size.

Following framework for a trade: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yd5j5p5n

Cavs get: Cousins and Bledsoe
Cavs out: TT and Irving
Cavs get a better center (but offset by Cousin's one-year deal) and a replacement for Irving at PG. Great return but next summer would be important FA time with both Cousins and Lebron up for contracts.

Pelicans get: TT and Irving
Pelicans Out: Cousins, picks
Pelicans get a replacement for Cousins in TT and Irving, both signed for at least 2 years

Phoenix get: garbage for now :D
Phoenix out: Bledsoe
Bledsoe doesn't fit in the youth movement in Phoenix. This trade proposal must be extended so a decent picks/young player package can be constructed as return for Phoenix.

I think Boston should do this. Kyrie stepped up in game 4 when LeBron was in foul trouble. It was a true representation of what he is capable of.
The real question is what the trade would look like to match salaries and if/which picks would be included.

I don't think it happens though, from either side.

I disagree. I think Irving will end up being valued like Harden once he's no longer playing LeBron-ball.

Not saying he's Harden but he's closer to Harden than he is to, say, Thomas.

This would be a fun trade. Boston isn't serious about competing next year, after passing on Butler and PG. They are waiting for the Brow to come on the market, so that's the reason this trade won't happen. But Thomas plus enough assets to make Cleveland more competitive with GSW would be real fun.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

Folks losing their minds because because Kyrie is making proactive choices for his life. This type of rhetoric only exists in sports. It aint the 1700s anymore.

I say more the merrier. Hopefully LBJ decides to be proactive again and comes west. Dan Gilbert does not deserve either of them.

Yeah - but that could be because their entire offense is geared around LeBron and they have no idea how to play as a team w/o him on the floor. Maybe Kyrie doesn't like this and wants to be somewhere where things aren't that way so he can grow his career and prove himself.

I hate when people use this excuse. Its stupid...

Why can't Kyrie drive and kick to all the same shooters spacing the floor like Lebron does. He just doesn't know how to run an offense plain and simple. He is a good iso player that gets no one else involved and is pretty streaky himself. So him running the show = no team success.

Keep in mind, Kyrie is one of those guys Lebron is able to kick it to the wing to, and since Lebron isn't the shooter Kyrie is let alone a great off-ball player, that's one less player to kick it to. Add in that you have TT out there with Shump bricking as well, and it's really not the same offense. Which is why he is usually in iso situations when Lebron isn't out there.

Boston would do this in a heart beat... Cle would cut their feet off before doing this. Cle isnt in a desperate trading position like clips or pacers were... Kyrie has three years left on contract with two guaranteed.. and doesn't have a no trade clause .. Cle can tear up Kyrie's wish list of teams..

if I was cle.. I would ask Kyrie what would make him happy and stay .. and do that very thing.. no matter what.. whatever it is.. even if it means finding a way to trade LeBron.. they do it.. there's ways to force Bron out of town.. but Cle FO needs to get creative if they want to salvage this. When your 25 yo superstar is fighting with your 33 yo superstar.. and is ready to leave.. you back the 25 yo... It's just smart business..

Though I know Dan Gilbert doesn't have the chops to save a situation like this... Only thing he ever had going for him was the dumb luck that LeBron was born relatively close to Cleveland... I hope they lose both Bron and Kyrie and go back to bottom-dwellers for the next 20 years for the crap he pulled on the Lakers for the CP3 trade.. Gilbert will forever be known as the owner who lost LeBron twice..
