Knicks get
T.j Warren
Brandon Knight
Houston get
Carmelo Anthony( waived his kicker)
Phoenix get
Anderson
Quarterman
1st round pick (protected top 10 from Houston)
Knicks get one of Hornacek's players who once averaged 19 pts for him. Can teach Frank the fast pace game, nba life as a guard , etc. TJ Warren had a breakout season averaging 14pts. Only 23 years old.
This trade only works if Carmelo waives his trade kicker.

As likely most, I am not a big Knight fan...that said he'd be a good 3rd guard off the bench once Frank is ready and Warren is a good prospect. I'd be happy with this.
Eventually:
C : WHG
PF: KP
SF: Warren
SG: THJr
PG: Frank
I could roll with seeing how they play together.

Why do people still put Brandon Knight into trades for the Knicks? He sucks as a PG.

Because the Knicks said they need a vet pg. Would you prefer to get back Chandler and have a glut or have someone who you can actually use. I think this trade takes care of the needs of the team. Young prospect at the small forward and a veteran point who also has potential also 25 years old to teach the rookie. On the end its Frank starting at the point.

A "veteran" PG to tutor Frank N is only good if he actually knows how to play PG. Brandon Knight is a small SG. And for a SG, he's not a particularly "heady" player. Hard pass.
And no, wouldn't want Tyson Chandler from Phoenix either.
As a matter of fact, I really wouldn't want to do any trade with Phoenix unless Bledsoe is coming to the Knicks, which he isn't in the Melo to Houston trade, most likely, and wasn't in that crap rumor where the Knicks get to get back Tyson Chandler and Irving from Phoenix\Cavs but get to trade Melo, multiple firsts AND Frank N.
No thanks to that as well.

Reason why for Knight because he has had success in Hornys system. There aren't that many true point guard in this league that i could name on top of my head like Chris Paul and Dragic. Bledsoe is not coming to ny unless you give up Frank. Carmelo won't give us much which is why phoenix is the only team that can give us atleast one prospect that is not overpaid unlike portland. Yes knight is making 13 million this season but nowadays that's role player money.

Rose willing to even discuss a 2.1 m deal is bad. At least we didn't bite at giving him big money. Franchise is starting to get it.

Phoenix won't add Warren to a Ryan Anderson deal unless more than this comes back.
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

I'm pretty sure most of the success that Hornacek had in Phoenix was around Dragic and Bledsoe. IIRC, Phoenix going more with Knight led to losses which led to Hornacek getting fired, but I could be wrong about the timing. I just don't like him as a guard. He's like Derrick Rose without the uber athleticism or as much talent. Bad decision maker, dominates the ball, doesn't make others better.

Phoenix is going to want two #1 picks for Anderson's contract.

Why two first picks they are also dumping Knight in the deal and his 3 year 45 mil contract I can argue that Anderson is a more useful player in the NBA than Knight. They don't get two first round picks for adding only 15 mil of 3 years

I have a feeling we will end up with Harkless and Knight in the deal when it finally gets done...

Re: Melo Trade Thread - Sorry Melo, these are the breaks
The keys to this trade with Houston are two things
1) if we're not getting back picks then we can't be taking back salary
2) if we are taking back salary they have to be productive players who will help the culture of this team.
Harkless is a guy that fits that. He's hard working and a solid defender.
Knight I don't think does fit that. He's a poor defender and limited playmaker. I think with a change of scenery he can do much better and I think hornesek will work with him. But he and hardaway together are not the defensive and pass first culture the manegment has repeatedly claimed they want.
Now Bledsoe is another story. Injury issues or not.
If we take back Bledsoe it makes sense and that's a vet pg frank can learn from and play with.
That I'd be excited about.
If Houston throws two crappy picks in this deal and both go to phx and we get Bledsoe it's ok.
If Portland is somehow involved too then the only players I like there are crabbe, with compensation for the contract, and harkless

Re: Melo Trade Thread - Sorry Melo, these are the breaks
so ...
NY sends Melo
NY gets Harkless, Bledstoe, and Swanigan
Houston sends Anderson, Gordon and Ariza and a pick with protection or provisions
Houston gets Turner and Melo
Portland sends Turner, Swanigan and Harkless
Portland gets Dudley and Anderson
Phx sends Bledstoe and Dudley
Phx gets Gordon and Ariza, houston pick
why?
NY gets a starting guard of quality and a SF of some quality but adds salary so we also get project and potential player Swanigan
houston loses arias and gordon but clears a logjam and adds melo. it costs them a pick
portland sheds salary and adds players who can actually help them. they dont have to give up any future picks.
and Phx sheds redundancy and salary and save cash with quality players in return who actually balance better for their roster. plus a pick

There is no way Houston is trading Anderson, Gordon and Ariza I do not think that will happen ever.
