Re: Rockets Off-Season Priorities
Now that Kyrie wants out of CLE I could see an Irving/Shumpert to NYK for Melo/Hernangomez deal, which would end Morey's quest for Melo perhaps once and for all.

With the Cavs in a bit of disarray...maybe Rockets should set up a 3 way deal to get KLove instead of Melo while unloading Anderson. This assumes the Cavs will blow it up if it comes to be. Of course getting Melo would mean Lebron in a Rockets uniform next season, but hey, why not give it a shot.

how are they going to divide the minutes between Klove and Melo? Morey should go after Klove if Melo gets traded to Cavs.

I'd assume LeBron just plays point guard full time and Melo and Love at the forwards?

I hope James makes it known to the Cavs that he is leaving in the off season and only wants to go to Houston. A one year (possibly longer if you win a ring) season with James, Haden, and Paul seems nice.

Kyrie Irving wanting out does not equal a trade for Carmelo Anthony. I know that Irving has listed NYC as a preferred destination; but he has absolutely no power on that front.
I think that by Irving wanting out that the Cavs are in complete disarray and that would mean that Melo would no longer waive his NTC to go there. Especially if there is no guarantee that LeBron will be there past this season.

Or Cleveland could look at it as getting Melo (and maybe Wade for Love too) is the only way to keep LeBron from leaving. So while Irving is a lot younger and doesn't have a NTC it's possible that getting Melo and trading him to NYK is beneficial for all involved. Cavs could trade Kyrie for players younger than Melo but LeBron wants to play with his friends and might leave if he doesn't like what the Cavs get in return for Kyrie.

Lebron won't waive his NTC, but if he did, i would be willing to bet he would do it for the Rockets. We are in win mode now. However, i don't think Morey wants to part with Ariza or Gordon. Also, the Cavs will not take Anderson. That is why it is important for the Rockets to get Melo this season without also giving up Ariza or Gordon. As a free agent next summer, Lebron knows with CP3 and himself taking much less $$ so Rockets can have a good complete team. Lebron knows just himself, Harden, CP3, and Melo aren't going to take down the Warriors. They all know having a good bench is important. Rockets just need to get Melo and Lebron will come here next summer.

The phrase "LeBron, Harden, CP3, and Melo aren't going to take down the Warriors" sounds so weird.
Even with LeBron being 34 at that time.
I'm not even sure it's not true.
Man, wtf, NBA. Wtf.

From Knicks board, they say he broke the Ed Reed news an Ty Lawson trade. Seems like he's been out of the loop for a while. So 5:45 PM huh? Regardless that is a classic name right there Burt Steele.

Ed Reed and Ty Lawson. Two of the greatest acquisitions in Houston sports history!

Well I was legit excited about Lawson but hated the Ed Reed signing. But wonder what part of the Ed Reed news did he break. The part of the signing? The part were they did not give him a med evaluation? The part that the old man had a bad hip? Or the part about him being cut?

Re: Rockets Off-Season Priorities
I am confused.
Is the official narrative now back to being "OKC has a better overall lineup and bench" than Houston?
That's where we were this time last year as far as RealGM conventional wisdom was concerned. Then that morphed over the season to fit Westbrook's MVP case to the point that the Rockets bench were damn near the 1997 Chicago Bulls.
Are we back to the Rockets being a worse lineup now?
This all changes so often that I get confused.

Well to me it has to come down to what combo Melo like most or rather thinks is better and I honestly take PG/Westbrook over Harden/CP3

I can guarantee you, on a personal level, he'd rather be with James and Chris. He's been friends with Chris forever and was hanging out with James in Paris early this summer.
But I'm with Mr. E. I've seen people say they take the Thunder over the Rockets because the Rockets have no bench and it's infuriating.
5-10 rotation guys
Gordon-Tucker-Nene-LMAM-Black
Vs
Kanter-Felton-Abrines-McD-Granr
I know which bench I think is better pretty easily.

yeah I agree the Rockets bench is better and it is not really close. Once you trade Kanter to get Melo your bench becomes dog ****

i know it sounds weird, but we still need a good bench. Those 3 aren't exactly in their prime, but the Warriors are pretty damn good and in their prime.

Re: Rockets Off-Season Priorities
Lots of rumors flying around ever since Melo say he's willing to waive his no-trade-clause for Houston.
Lots of rumors saying Melo telling people he is a Rocket.
I thought all the wait is because we need to wait until 8/28 before Uthoff can be traded to an over cap space team (too complicated). Apparently you can still trade him for one player, maybe trade him for another non-guaranteed contract???
Latest I hear is Ariza will be traded as well. That's explain LMAM and Tucker signing.
IDK anymore. Just wait and see.
