rather bet on melo opting out. kanter is awful and would be beyond redundant on this roster. and anderson and leonard weren't options to take back in the first place that's why this deal isn't getting done.

yeah obviously kanter would have to be involved it really depends on what other assets OKC could give. Kanter is more palatable than Anderson due to one less year and being younger. He could eventually be moved down the road.

Really depends on what combination of (abrines/ferguson/picks) OKC is willing to give up, but you can't trade anything out until 2022 which complicates things...

I think I would rather have Leonard at 3/30 over Kanter 2/36

ferguson is the best prospect possibly the knicks might be getting back. Ferguson is much more exciting then any horrible Rockets pick.

Under most circumstances Ferguson is a lottery pick in almost every draft.

Surprised at the Kanter hate. He's a pretty good offensive player and it's only 2 years

why???? with a PO for Kanter it might be an expiring.

We aren't signing FA's next year anyways so Kanter is a much better contract to take then a 3+ years of Anderson or Leonard.

seriously he blows defensively but he's 25 yrs old and had like 25 PER last year.

And it we would be getting Ferguson in that deal IMO so that trumps any asset we have heard the knicks getting in any previous deal..

The first 1st they can offer is 2024, assuming their 2018 pick conveys to MIN (they a 2020-22 pick to ORL that's 1-20 protected each year).

They do have two extra 2nds, one from CHI that should be in the 31-35 range, plus their own 2nd.

Kanter would have to come back I assume. Has a player option in 2018 (I assume he'd exercise due to the saturated big man market) but is off books in 2019.

Ferguson and the 2nds and Kanter. Not a bad haul.

Leonard on his last year would be a 10 mil dollar expiring that would 1- be easy to move if needed 2- be used in a trade if needed. That contract is more forgiving. Kanter isn't opting out he isn't getting 18 mil per on the open market. He will take his 18 mil then hit open market.

I dont want Anderson like I said.

i'll look into that dude but on the surface i don't like the deal at all. i think kanter is a dinosaur in today's game and would be such a horrible fit with what were trying to do. and half our roster would be constructed of centers. i actually think theres a higher chance of melo opting out after this season then kanter.

Isn't Kanter basically useless on defense? Like another poster said, we have Willy already. Don't take back crap just to trade Melo. Make the trade that's best for the Knicks not Melo.

I'm not excited at any of the assets we could get from OKC but I AM excited that another team is entering the mix. That will only drive Melo's value UP!

F*ucking fantastic move by us stepping back.

Let these teams fight with each other over Melo. We ain't giving anyone a superteam on the cheap.
