Re: Melo Trade Thread - Sorry Melo, these are the breaks
Whichever teams can give us the most picks and players under 24. Forget deals where we have to give up Melo plus young assets. Stick to the youth movement. Let Ron Baker start, and hopefully by the All Star break Frank shows us enough to take over the starting role. Try to land a top 5 pick.

who listens to Bill Simmons nowadays? He's just trying to do whatever it takes to prop up his Celtics

No but we have a direction. Kanter would only make sense if we were getting back a young player but we're not so makes no sense.

When Bill "I love that crappy Trade Machine" Simmons tweets stupid stuff, do y'all actually take it seriously?

Yea but you are not picking up Kanter to add to the core. Ferguson, youth, and picks is the reason for this trade. Kanter can opt out next year. If not the following year he is an expiring.

Time to look up Ferguson highlights. He was protected as a 3&D guy I think. 38 inch vertical

Uh first of all this is all speculation and through that speculation people are throwing out names like Ferguson and Abrines. Contracts have to match tho so you need someone like Kanter
And Kanter is 25

lol why is everyone so short sided. Kanter could fetch a lot better return than Ryan Anderson can. This is going to be a 3 way deal regardless

I feel like there's a better deal somewhere with OKC compared to Houston.

ferguson is the best prospect possibly the knicks might be getting back. Ferguson is much more exciting then any horrible Rockets pick.
Under most circumstances Ferguson is a lottery pick in almost every draft.
i'll look into that dude but on the surface i don't like the deal at all. i think kanter is a dinosaur in today's game and would be such a horrible fit with what were trying to do. and half our roster would be constructed of centers. i actually think theres a higher chance of melo opting out after this season then kanter.
Kanter is a really good scorer. That holds some value
dude also might be the worst defensive big in the league and would be our 5th center on the roster. i can't see him fitting into fast-pace style jeff should be given the freedom to run now either. you can't let him finish games because he's such a defensive liability. he's essentially an overpaid 6th man.

So? He's a bench player. I'm not worried about team building as much as accumulating assets. You get Ferguson and Abrines out of this it doesn't matter if Kanter is playing 20 mins off the bench
