Lol - Kanter, similar to JV, is a dead contract. No need for big man like that on that type of salary. He doesn't fit with Krystaps.

Will likely be Adams if this deal happens.

OKC is not letting go of Adams and the Knicks won't get a piece as good as Adams in a Melo deal.

Why wouldn't they? Is S.Adams all of a sudden worth 22-27 million a year? They signed Adams and Olapido early to not lose those assets and one has already been moved. I'd think a frontcourt of Porzingis and Adams(with Noah off the bench) is a much better future then Melo and Porzingis especially if you're looking to free up more shots for Porzingis with Hardway Jr joining them.

I also think a scoring center like Kanter at 18 mil could fetch a decent defensive center and maybe another asset in return, maybe some cap relief.

I don't want OKC to get rid of Adams for a Melo rental. Same goes for Kanter. If they can do this w/o giving up those two guys I'd be all for it.

these trade will go nowhere cause knicks actually want some value in return, and teams that melo might want to go to cant give knicks anything useful

One has to go for trade to work money wise. I would hate to let Adams go but Kanter would be a no brainer.

I'm not sure NY would have interest in Kanter. Maybe, it'd be part of a multi-team trade where NY ends up flipping Kanter.

As if Bill Simmons needs attention.

He's one of the biggest names in sports writing.

I could buy that his sources are faulty. But he definitely has reason to believe its true.

At this point, I'm not really sure they are looking for a lot in return. The challenge is finding a team Carmelo is willing to go to, and getting a deal that doesn't tie up the cap for years. The Houston trade involved Anderson's contract which was a no go for New York. Cleveland's front office is a mess right now, so I'm not sure how those conversations went. If Carmelo OK's a trade to OKC, the Kanter contract is actually bearable. Especially if Kanter opts out next year.

This soap opera in New York has reached it's end, and I think they're ready to turn a corner, but they can't get stuck with a long term bad contract.

ESPN fired him, HBO cancelled his show, and The Ringer has only a fraction of the audience that Grantland had. Simmons is past his prime.

I don't see why he'd waive his NTC for OKC but not Portland which would arguably be a better fit for him.

Well you're talking about the Knicks so that requirement is met. They definitely should not do it. They'd be better off trading for a couple 2nd rounders and expirings than Kanter and role players.

Bill Simmons Podcast is still one of the top 5 podcasts on iTunes in terms of downloads. He's still really popular.

The Ringer doesn't have nearly the quality of writers that grantland did. That's a fair criticism. Though I know he intentionally hired people in their 20's, with the hope of grooming them into great writers.

Agreed past his prime, but his podcast is still super popular, yes? And he got guaranteed millions from HBO. He seems to enjoy his Hollywood perch and celebrity friends -- not sure he really cares about audience anymore.

 @ grooming. More like he's paying them dogsh-t and prob not providing health insurance. They're prob contractors getting paid off clicks.

That's possible, but I think he was just feed that story. I just can't imagine that the guy who was "Mr. Big Apple NYC" now wants to play and live in Oklahoma. I just can't "buy it" without a more credible source.

because trading adams and bringing in melo is ~lateral.. they need both

adams is important to that team
