I feel like winning is probably alot more important than location at this point in his career. How many times did he make the playoffs with the Knicks? Once?red96 wrote:MartinToVaught wrote:red96 wrote:I'll take, Knicks posturing for $500 Alex.
I'll take "Bill Simmons making things up to get attention" for $1000.
That's possible, but I think he was just feed that story. I just can't imagine that the guy who was "Mr. Big Apple NYC" now wants to play and live in Oklahoma. I just can't "buy it" without a more credible source.

I would love to see him in OKC only if we can pull off a robbery like we did with the Pacers. I dont want to lose our whole bench for 1 player. Abrines and Mcdermott need to stay.

As a Knicks fan, I'd really like to see Steven Adams beside KP. Though this is highly unlikely, Kanter could choose to leave NYK next year and free up cap space for the future. I can see Melo waiving his NTC for OKC.

I think him and Westbrook are at least somewhat "Friends"...
And friends are the only thing that matters to Melo's generation...

You can take Courtney Lee too!

I haven't seen Lee in a few years but if he's still the pretty good 2 way player I remember he'd be a pretty good pickup for OKC's bench...

Sabonis was traded to Indiana in the Paul George trade like a month ago.

I don't think OKC would stand still with Kanter, I'd expect there would be move moves. R.Lopez is probably very available while Chicago is rebuilding.
I just don't see S.Adams as a good value for OKC anymore, especially with the possibility of rebuilding in the future. Even if George not staying in OKC, they could still sign and trade him to get assets back(to add assets for a rebuild).

If I'm NYK I would do it for Kanter, Abrines, and a first round pick.
Lol - Kanter, similar to JV, is a dead contract. No need for big man like that on that type of salary. He doesn't fit with Krystaps.
Will likely be Adams if this deal happens.
I would't go as far to say that they are dead contracts. They have just gone from a necessity to more of a situational piece in today's NBA. Both contracts are no doubt pricey, but can still produce something useful at the NBA level.
A dead contract is a negative on both ends of the court. see Demarre Caroll's time with the Raptors.

Problem is Melo no trade clause.
He said it many time, he will waive for Houston and Cleveland.
OKC wasn't on the list.
I doubt he will waive it for Cleveland if Irving is gone.
Didn't you read Simmons's tweet?
The guy who recruited him to Syracuse works for OKC and is selling him on playing there.
Maybe it doesn't convince him, but his mind could be changed.
Westbrook/George/Melo/Adams may be the 2nd best team in the league. Better than Houston would be with him.
I also read Michael Jordan is recruiting him as well. Melo is Jordan spokesman.

Re: Bill Simmons: NYK and OKC talking Melo trade?
Adams is so much better and more valuable than Melo it's not even close. Also if OKC gets fleeced Melo just vetoes the deal. Kanter and trash for Melo and Lee is a great deal, Kanter can get moved at the deadline. Or Kanter is young enough he might opt out. 34 year old Melo isn't opting out of $30+ Million.

Re: Bill Simmons: NYK and OKC talking Melo trade?
I get what your saying, but when he gave his list, top teams like the Spurs and Celtics weren't on it. And last season he only wanted to go to LA, and play with Paul. His interests seemed to have been to play in a big city with a banana boat buddy as priority 1 and 2. Houston now checks those boxes and have top level talent. Cleveland checks 1 , but OKC doesn't check any. If overall talent was his #1 priority, why not pick the Spurs over OKC?Best2EverDoIt wrote:I feel like winning is probably alot more important than location at this point in his career. If anything they are much improved defensively this off season. All of their pick ups have been sneakily good on both ends of the floor but also a clear improvement defensively.
PG >>> Oladipo
Patterson > Gibson
even Felton is an upgrade defensively over Semaj or Payne
The proposed rumor is sending out notoriously bad defenders in Kanter, McBuggets and Abrines anyways. So your definitely reaching.

Lol relax. Your vendetta is obvious because you want him on the Rockets so bad.

If they can get him without giving up Adams go for it, but definitely wouldn't give up Adams for a possible 1 year rental in Carmelo.

Tell you the truth I don't know if I really want Melo. There are too many Melo things we heard this past few weeks.
IDK if this is Knicks smoke screen trying to jack up Melo value or those team really want him.
I just feel there shouldn't be any discussion unless Melo say he's willing to waive his NTC for that team.

And he did, for Houston. He wants to go to Houston.

Abrines and McDermott, really? The Bulls attached a 2nd round pick to DUMP McDermott he's so bad. Abrines is a one dimensional shooter who's not really that good at shooting. Both of them can be replaced with minimum salary players.
