If they get a good return for Kyrie, which they should, They might be in a better spot than last season. It all matters on the fit of the pieces they bring back.

The only interesting thing about Rose to the Cavs is that it kinda changes their target players in Kyrie trade pieces.

Before Rose signing, I was sure that the Cavs would want both Brogdon and Delly. Now it is one of them.
So Rose could kill/increase our chances to get Kyrie. I wonder how do they value Rose.
Will they start him ? If they believe Rose is a starter than our chances are increased. They get Mid+Brogdon+pick(s)
Will they use him as backup? Then I think Suns gain from this and they get Kyrie. Bledsoe+Jackson (+?)
My gut says Suns get Kyrie, but I still hope we get him.

I think Melo would work really well on that OKC team if he was happy play his Team USA super role player style. He could just plod to his spots and let WB/PG hit him with open shots.

Maybe you are right there. I think the Suns have a legit shot, i think GM LeBron loves Bledsoe personally. Also, they have some other intriguing pieces that they can bring in to shore up their depth/youth.

If the Bucks did a deal with Cleveland - which i dont think would be a good idea... but Middleton/Monroe/Brogdon - for Kyrie/Filler is all the further I would go.

I would not include - Thon, Parker, Giannis in any deal. That is your firm core in 2020. Other guys like DJ, Brogdon, Brown, and Vaughn could work themselves in there - but jury still is out. I see Middleton as a trade piece, not a core piece looking ahead a few years. He holds his highest value now, due to his performance and current contract.
Khris Middleton - Beating up on Trash Can Teams since 1943. Invisible Man status otherwise.

Its at least a non Bucks thing to do. Go get a very good player.

Here is my biggest opposition. And I am torn the matter.

Can you have a core 3 where 2 of those 3 are below average or worse defenders?

Sure, if the other one's LeBron. Still not ideal, though.

I'd trade for him, but I'd have to keep Middleton. At which point it makes no sense unless there's a 3rd team.

That might be the asking price though

Jabari / Brogdon / Delly for Kyrie / Felder / Tavares

I think I'd be okay with this...

Kyrie/Felder
Snell/Vaughn
Middleton/Wilson
Giannis/Teletovic
Thon/Monroe

I struggle with these.

Do you really think that the Cav's are going to be ok with being a worse team next season? No chance. If Parker was healthy, maybe.

The conversation starts with Middleton. Of course if you're the Cav's it starts with Giannis.

Their championship window is now 1 year. They still have a very strong team and the best player in the world. They aren't taking our injured crap.

That's the deal I think makes most sense. I could also see CLE interested in getting a Snell in the deal too.

I know the money isn't the same but I would much rather keep Brogdon over Snell. If I am the Cav's (again money aside) I'd prefer Snell.

None the less, they are going to get Middleton and Brogdon bare minimum.

Who knows on the leverage. He got the ride the championship coat tail deal.

I am fairly certain we were looking at a multi year deal probably right around that mid level number. Eeek. Thank goodness we didn't have the cap space. Kyrie is a much more interesting acquisition.

He wasn't signing here for the vet minimum for those that still think that.

He probably will. He will be their 7th, 8th man (could rise if Kyrie deal). Lebron will keep him in check and assure that Rose accepts and fulfills his reduced role. JR Smith style.

Snell is not eligible for trade until Jan 14th 2018.

Khris + Brogdon/Jabari + 2018 unprotected(top3) 1st/ Wilson (elig. August 5th) ........... for Kyrie Irving

Bucks would just want to leave Middleton open since it's the playoffs, he would go 1-11 or so ;-)

I kind of admire Rose for taking the gig though
This has the potential to chew him up and spit him out like DWill, and if that happens the next stop for him is the Shanghai Sharks.

I can't think of a worse fit (Rose) playing with LeBron.

Its almost as if they made the signing without a general manager. Like, as if an owner made the call or something.

No.

You cannot.

Another note. Irving does not fill more holes than Mids and Brog. Then with some who are throwing in 1sts so you cannot even get a bench built?

I don't want Irving. I want to see the Bucks progress and build upon last season. Anyone have a crystal ball to know who could be available at the trade deadline?

No?

People are poo-poo'ing the notion that the Cavs would not want to trade Irving within the division. I think there is something too it. Not that the division title itself means anything to anyone. But Gilbert and the Cavs are smart enough to know that LeBron is probably gone after this year, and that Giannis is the new LeBron (dominant do it all wing). So if they do deal Kyrie here, and if that acquisition does push the Bucks in to the top of the East, that is something they then get killed for by media and fans for the duration of the Bucks' run as contenders. A lot of ifs, sure. But nothing implausible.

If I was the Cavs, I would be much more likely to trade Kyrie out west, or to New York, or even somewhere like Orlando. Like it or not, if they trade him within the division, its just a much more frequent story and line of criticism they have to deal with for the next 6-8 years.

If you were choosing between buying two houses, and one was next door to your ex wife, and the other was comparable and 5 miles away, which would you choose?

This is definitely a factor. Don't know why anyone would dismiss it. The Cavs aren't going to pass up a significantly better deal from a team in their own division but if its a coin flip between, say, Minnesota and Milwaukee, you better believe the Cavs will send Kyrie to the Western Conference. Unfortunately another thing working against the Bucks, like Jabari's ACL.
