Re: Afflalo is back!
Always liked him. Seemed to carry himself like a real pro. I was happy to trade him before so Oladipo could play but on a 1 year deal now, sure why not.

Unexpected but he did shoot 40% from 3. Fits the we need "shooting" comments earlier from management.

Re: Afflalo is back!
Wow, very unexpected but for a one year deal I'll take it. He brings shooting and defense. Probably tried to take on too big of a role last time he was here and would definitely ball hog at times, but he is another vet on a good contract who brings things this team needs and has always seemed like a real pro whoever he has gone, so I like it.
However, bringing on Speights and AA definitely makes me feel a trade is coming. Where are all these minutes going to come from? I mean is Mario going to be glued to the bench all year?

Re: Afflalo is back!
Another solid 1 year signing. I liked his professionalism while he was here and he's a career 38% 3 point shooter, and shot it 40+% last year. But, I got a weird feeling about the usage Afflalo and Speights will eat away from Payton, Gordon, and Isaac.

Ross/Fournier/Simmons/Afflalo/Iwundu/Hezonja
We weren't an injury riddled team so some people are going to Lakeland. Birch/Iwundu/Mario are prime suspects.

Re: Afflalo is back!
I hear he's really excited about this 2nd chance at being our franchise player.
But seriously though, I agree with Def Swami. These cheap veteran signings may sound good at first, but we're officially to the point now where we'll definitely be pissed at Vogel all season long for his rotations. You can't give coaches too much rope or they will enthusiastically hang themselves. One of Hennigan's best moves was forcibly taking Glen Davis away from Jacque Vaughn.

11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.
- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Re: Afflalo is back!
Well our bench will be better so thats good, its no joke they were the worst bench in the league, even worst than the Nets. This one came out of left field.

I'd be irate if Speights gets any burn at PF considering he can't even keep up with C's on the PnR. I think it's Mack taking Payton's/DJ's minutes and Isaac/Gordon/Mario competes at PF.

Re: Afflalo is back!
So...
We could start with:
Payton
Fournier
Ross
Gordon
Vucevic
And the bench would consist of...
Augustin/Mack/Simmons/Afflalo/Georges-Hunt/Isaac/Mario/Biyombo/Speights
That's an upgrade from last year. Yes it is.

I'm just saying, coaches like Vogel like their proven vets. The team could very well roll out a second unit of
Augustin/Afflalo/Simmons/Speights/Biyombo
And this is assuming the team goes 10 deep into the bench. Unless they do some deals, I think there's a chance that Isaac could be odd man out. For better or worse.

Re: Afflalo is back!
PG Payton
SG Fournier
SF Ross
PF Gordon
C Vucevic
vs.
PG Mack
SG Afflalo
SF Simmons
PF Speights
C Biyombo
....I think our bench beats our starting lineup.

Re: Afflalo is back!
Unless I can't count, this means that either Birch has fallen through, or MGH won't be doing any better than a 2-way contract.

Re: Afflalo is back!
Rewind back to 2013/14 I thought AA got snubbed an all star.
