Lin/Russell/Crabbe/RHJ/Mosgov
Dinwiddie/LeVert/Carroll/Booker/Allen
IW/Harris/Acy
That's how I view the rotation right now. I like Lin starting, because a DLo/LeVert back court is too inexperienced right now. We had Foye starting last year just because he stabilized things. Lin starting will stabilize things. You also get Carroll and Booker stabilizing things on the bench.
LeVert gets a chance to be the main scorer off the bench, and can still get 25-28 mins a night, which would be great, considering our starters will probably top off at around 32 mins a night.
I think eventually, Lin transitions to the 6th man role he had in Charlotte.

That works too but I doubt Allen/Booker will see much time together... we need at least 1 stretch big on at all times to maximize Kenny's offense(Lopez last year for ex.)
I can see Acy getting more PT this year too.

Lin can come off the bench. I actually think we should try and trade him for a pick at the deadline.
I wouldn't be shocked to see this lineup at some point, but I don't think there's any way we start the year with Lin on the bench. He will have to get overtaken to lose that job - which could happen if Levert excels, but more likely I think he's the 6th man for this year. I could see Lin getting traded at the deadline though, especially if it's obvious he is going to opt out and cost more than we're willing to pay him.
Also while I think RHJ may be the favorite right now to start at PF, I don't think it's a lock. Booker is good on defense and probably a more skilled offensive player and Carroll could be a dark horse if Crabbe starts at the 3.

I personally want Russell to play Point Guard, because I want him to play that position long term.
I would sacrifice wins if we can make Russell into an elite Point Guard. So I dont like starting him at the 2.

I disagree. Booker and Carroll can swap on offense. Carroll plays PF and Booker plays SF. Then on defense, Carroll guards the SF and Booker guards the PF.
I think Allen could learn alot from playing alongside Booker and his grit and grind defense.

I would prefer Russell to be a long term PG too, but I don't think it matters much in today's NBA. Plus, its easier to hide DLo on defense if we can find a better 2 way PG down the line.
But anyways, you can easily swap Lin and DLo in that hypothetical rotation. It doesn't matter who's starting where, because in a way they will simultaneously be playing PG.

I'd prefer to have a defender in the backcourt. Lin should start imo

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread III
I'd be surprised if Lin and Levert doesn't start. The one positive thing about this trade though is that due to the number of bodies we have at the ball handler/small/wing positions, we can play Russell and Lin for 30 minutes and Levert for 25 minutes without having a huge drop off due to the constant rotations Kenny will implement. This will definitely keep those 3 mentioned fresh throughout the whole season. Which can only be a positive, especially if midseason we start selling.

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread III
I think we won't have problems scoring tbh. Lin, Russell, Carroll, LeVert, Crabbe can knock down the treys. Dinwiddie can knock down shots. I believe Whitehead will improve as well.
The main issue now is our big rotation. I think Acy can be penciled in as a stretch 4. RHJ gives us defense at multiple spots, rebounding, and slashing. Both he and Booker can initiate the break off of rebounds. Can Mozgov become a 33-34% 3pt shooter? Allen, I don't know what to expect yet in year 1.
I think that we need to trim the fat on in the backcourt and get another big that can shoot.

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread III
Another thing, I see folks saying we should dump either Lin or Booker. I think that's a mistake.
We need veteran leadership. Booker is a good dude. hard worker. very intelligent. Lin is the same. we need them here, we need them pushing guys.
Booker is flawed, but he is aggressive and has balls of steel. I think that he got a bit out of control towards seasons end by trying to do too much at times, but there were games where Booker had sequences where he made some incredible plays based off of his aggression. I'm not trading him just for the sake of trading him.
We will be relying heavily on Lin, Booker, Carroll, and Mozgov. Our main players are all kids maturity wise and NBA wise. we need seasoned professionals here for when things get rough, and lordy, it will get rough.
I am pretty optimistic about us. Weakened eastern conference, and we have added some shooting and I think we'll be able to defend a bit better this season. I'm excited for the season to begin.
i expect nothing else but competition and some fun games to watch, win or lose.

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread III
^Can also list Carroll as a stretch 4 in some situations too. I can imagine him getting 10mpg at the 4.
But I agree, we need to dump a wing for a big, if one of our bigs go down we're in huge trouble, especially if RHJ/Mosgov go down. I'm finding it difficult right now to come up with a name we can trade Kilpatrick/Goodwin/Harris for that fulfils our need.

I don't think any of them have value.
Also, let's not forget we signed that other kid to a two way contract.

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread III
^Precisely, none of them have value which is why I'm having a difficult time coming up with a stretch big that we can acquire via trade. I'm trying to think of a stretch big that's in a similar position to Crabbe before today, but right now I'm drawing a blank.
Wiley? I suppose so, but we'll just have to sit back and see if he ends up contributing. Doubt that would happen early though, maybe midseason he gets decent minutes if we start selling.
I just hope that Crabbe shows some grit to work, all of this talk about him not having a work ethic is seriously concerning me, but at the same time, having Lin/Carroll/Mosgov/Booker/Kenny will hopefully change his attitude around.

Skil has value man I'm telling you. Somebody will give you a second for a good scorer on a vets min deal.
I would like to keep Harris and Goodwin though.

An interesting option, with JaMychal Green still on the market.
Sign & Trade
JaMychal Green 3 years 27-30mil
Booker + SKil (or Goodwin or Whitehead)
MEM gets a PF who can play and some cheap guard depth.
BRK upgrades slightly at PF and gets 1 stretch type player who can D up and loses a bit of the glut at guard.

I can see Marks choosing to wait until season to make trades after we've had a chance to better showcase our young guys .
All the wings are going to look better with the infusion of talent the team got this offseason.

it makes my stomach turn to think crabbe plays over levert... who is already a better player then crabbe.
we saw how bad this team looks with bogs... crabbe isnt much different then bogs, crabbe better from three, bogs better creating his own shot. both enormous negatives on defense. both terrible on the road

Agreed. Bogdanovic + 6M contract got us the 22nd from Washington. Kilpatrick is just as good, if not better. While he can't shoot as well, he drives and facilitates better. He definitely has value.
