2023 pick is the earliest one we can deal. Been confirmed plenty of times already.
And the reason why is called the Stepien Rule:
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q89
Essentially you cannot trade your consecutive future first round picks. Stepien was GM of the Cavs who traded five consecutive first round picks from the Cavs. The league actually made a rule that his future trades needed league approval. How bad was he?

It's pretty silly and unrealistic to think we have a shred of chance getting Kyrie. We don't have to pieces, nor the drafts, plus we are in the same Conference as the Cavs, and Gilbert hates Riley. No way this is getting done.

Honestly, I would prefer we keep our team intact, I think we can make a run at the east with all those teams getting weaker. Cavs is about to be a mess in the locker room, and boston is all hype, I think we can beat anyone in the east, I believe in those guys...

I hope you are right because Kyrie isn't worth half of the proposals I've seen here. I admire his skills, but I don't see him as a generational player that we should build around. I greatly prefer to keep our team the way it is, prioritize improving our assets and internal growth, and prepare for a championship in a few years.
Meanwhile, the next big decision we have is what to do with J-Rich's extension. We can offer 4/$42 on Aug 3 (until Oct 15), which would look like this:
Josh Richardson (9/15/93)
2018-2019: $9,375,000 (25 yo start of season)
2019-2020: $10,125,000 (26)
2020-2021: $10,875,000 (27)
2021-2022: $11,625,000 (28)
If we don't resign him this season, he is RFA next season and will make whatever the market dictates. We can match, but likely at a much higher rate.

Man **** the Cavs.
More then wanting Kyrie, I just want to see them implode.
Kyrie is a great scorer, not that great of a player. He's not the best player on a championship team. You want him on your team, but u cant gut the team for him, he's not in that special tier that transforms a roster.
Let's see GM Lebron solve this clusterfu@k he created.

I don't think Cleveland will trade Kyrie to us but it's not a big deal because we can just try to get him in FA in a couple of years. He'll be 27 when his contract is up and we'll definitely have a chance to get him seeing as we were 1 of the 4 teams he preferred.

Only way we could get Kyrie is to overpay, which I'm not trying to see. Bledsoe, Warren is likely the best Cavs could hope for
Current team would've been a great fit for Kyrie (w/Dragic at least), dn't care where he ends up, just want to see some Woj clouds

Agree with this 100%. If they don't and he ends up being dealt to a team outside of his preferred 4 teams it could happen. What is our cap situation in 2 summers? I don't know if we will even have space with our signings this offseason.

If CLE wants Hassan for Kyrie, think Pat could pull this off and would NO go for it? (throw in a Winslow if need be)

I think our best chance of acquiring Myrie is to trade for him next summer when he's demanding out of Phoenix. We gotta play the long game with this whale fam

Here is a trade that I think Cleve would be intersted in;
Goran, Richardson, TJ and Ellington along with 5million to buyout Ellington if they like for;
Irving, Shump and Frye.
This would free up about 10million in space but save them about 20 million due to cap hit, while proving them with a Starting PG for next few years, a young Wing in TJ and a role player in Richardson for future.
Heat have to eat some money this year but get Irving and a good 6th man in Shump who already plays Miami HEAT Defense. Frye could then be moved for guard.

Winslow-McGruder
