Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
So, according to Woj, we are one of 6 teams that have sent a trade offer to Cleveland for Kyrie Irving, with about 20 teams showing some kind of interest. The other 5 teams are the Spurs, Suns, Wolves, Knicks and Heat.
He also says they're looking for a mixture of veterans, young players and picks, so I'm not sure we'll be in the conversation when they have to decide, but I thought it was interesting that we are showing so much interest early.

Hopefully one of those other teams steps up with a better offer and bails us out of this panic move. A Kyrie trade only wastes assets on a player who doesn't raise our ceiling nearly enough to justify it. A move like that has Doc written all over it.

When Guo eventually decides to give the NBA a try, I wouldn't mind signing him. Once Teodosic gets acclimated to the NBA himself, he could be a mentor to him as another guard from overseas trying to make it in this league.

I'm all for more Asian basketball players but Guo Ailun seems like a backup PG at best even if he is still developing his skills. He'd be a lower version of Jeremy Lin and I've been a Lin fan.

I'd assume Jerry West is a fan based on how Kyrie has performed against he Warriors, it's certainly interesting. Not sure I'm down for it though, I would need to be convinced, but it is generally said that if you are getting the best talent in a trade you are winning. Still, Cleveland is going to look at other options, Clippers don't really have the assets for them. They are quite aware that there's no certainty in Lebron staying, and it is even likely that he leaves, so they will need a young-ish star like player back, and DJ is not that.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Would be shocked if LAC ended up with Kyrie. At least right now, LAC doesn't have what the Cavs reportedly are looking for. But who knows, maybe Cle circles back to us if they don't like what they're getting from other teams. DJ & Pat Bev is an awesome get, albeit a risky one for Cle with DJ facing FA next summer.
But I'd be with it.
There's concerns about whether or not he would make LAC better, but a 25 year old coming off of 25/3/6 on 47/41/90 is worth the gamble to me. Anybody not named Blake Griffin I'd be willing to part with.

Check me on this, MKW or any other capsperts [cap experts] out there. Clips gave Milos Teodosic $6M of our $8.4M MLE, leaving $2.4M to expend as we wish--and we expended it on getting third-year options on our 2nd-rounders Jawun and Sidarius.
Now in the olden days, veteran-lover Doc would have thrown that $2.4M at Tony Allen without blinking an eye. The way I read this is now that the CP window is slammed shut, there's a new regime, a new philosophy, and it's back to selling hope, selling the promise of the future.
If we were still contenders, Tony Allen for this year as opposed to a team option on Juwan and Sidarius in their 3rd years wouldn't even be worth second guessing.

Even if we were contenders, Tony Allen would be a waste of a roster spot. He's 35 years old and so useless on offense that opponents don't even have to guard him. It won't be long before he's too old to be effective on defense either, and at that point he's unplayable. Knowing our luck, this year would have been the year that happened. There's a reason the Grizzlies didn't bring him back and he's still unsigned.

I would have second guessed it. Who are you putting Tony Allen on the floor with? I dont see him being a good fit outside of Beverley, Lou, Allen, Gallo, Blake. How many minutes are we going to give to that unit? Maybe a small lineup of Milos, Lou, Allen, Dekker/Gallo, DJ? Same question.
Ill pass.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
I see y'all's point. I was more thinking of our past rosters with thin rotations. I'm still skeptical of our kids, and if we were legit contenders, would consider dumping one for a proven playoff defender.
But the larger point is that it's a new day, and the money was spent instead on 3rd-year options on our 2nd-rounders. A 180.

Multi-Team Deal with the Clippers portion being...
Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams and DeAndre Jordan for Tyson Chandler, Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert?
