Monk is a rookie and MCW running an offense, even a bench offense? Ramon Sessions didn't play that bad as last season's bench leader but CHA hated him for what he could not do, which is keep leads intact or mount a comeback when starters left a deficit - now they place their hopes in guys significantly worse than Sessions.

I still refuse to believe D12 is as bad as media portray him to be. Maybe I am in denial.

i think for year 1 its enough of a change of scenery for him to help you win games.

as much BS as howard brings

he made the playoffs 6 straight years in orlando (every year after his sophmore year)
He made the playoffs all 3 years in houston
he made the playoffs his 1 year with the hawks

LA they missed the playoffs by 1 game. and that was with an injury and him and kobe really going at it,

he is still such a force rebounding/defending/finsihing he is going to help you win for a year or so before it goes south

They actually made the playoffs that year as well.

I agree with VCP's projections. Here's what I think needs to happen for Brooklyn to seize that 8 spot.

1. Most importantly, Russell needs to take charge as the primary option. He needs to take the same step forward Kemba took when he went from 28 mpg to 35 mpg. He doesn't necessarily need to get to the all star level Kemba hit the last few years, but he has to at minimum replace Lopez' 20 ppg without losing much efficiency. Ideally he'd be a little better in the end of games than Lopez as well (hard to be worse).

2. The rest of the guards need to play above average basketball and complement Russell the same way Lin added a dimension when he was in CHA. It looks like there's a ton of depth right now, but that doesn't matter if they all play average. Lin needs to play the way he did last year, Levert needs to play like he did in Summer League, likely as a 6th man, and Crabbe needs to continuing hitting 40% of his 3's and ideally take a step forward with more usage. The entire guard/wing rotation needs to be very good.

3. Mozgov has to play the way he did in CLE or DEN or Allen has to be a surprise contributor from day 1. This roster needs a reliable defensive presence - both contesting shots and on the glass.

That's really it. I'm pretty confident Booker will be the same reliable glue guy he was last year, and start competently at PF if need be. Carroll should also be a solid glue guy even if he doesn't fully bounce back to his Atlanta form. RHJ will contribute as an energy guy off the bench even if he doesn't take a full step forward seizing the PF role. The way this team can get to the playoffs is by beating teams in the backcourt and playing consistent, competitive defense that can maximize the uptempto system and catch other teams off guard - especially on hot shooting nights.

I don't think we will make the playoffs but we will be better than Knicks, Bulls, Pacers, Lakers, Hawks, Suns and Kings.

1. Cavs
2. Celts
3. Raps
4. Wiz
5. Bucks
6. Hornets
7. Nets
8. Pistons

Right now, the biggest concern is the new starters' D. Can those two alleged bad defenders play good D? How is Kenny gonna let them play if it isn't very good?

Second concern is if Moz and Jar can provide D and PnR, and shooting 3s for Moz.

Lin's gotta be healthy obviously. If those are good, we can make the playoffs.

Thanks for the honesty.
