The Miami Heat are willing to part with Goran Dragic and Justise Winslow as centerpieces for an Irving trade, league sources said. With the Cleveland-Miami history, there's little chance for a deal unless the Heat offered an overwhelming package.

Heat deny ESPN report of offer of Dragic, Winslow for Irving

Walton can play in G League all year if we want him to, or we can use roster spots 16 and 17 for him.

Having a possible backup PG rotation of Weber/Walton is interesting if we want to move TJ

Neither are as good as TJ, barely NBA players. Both are good roots for our G league team (Can't believe how fast that name caught on)

No but I could see a guy like Weber fitting in as a defensive backup PG and Ellington/Rich/McGruder playing a few more minutes each over paying TJ 19 mil. Walton will likely groom for a year or 2 similar to what we imagined for Weber initially.

Idk Bish.

I would trade Dragic/Winslow in a heart beat for Irving.

Nah, too much sauce for me. I'd be okay with a Winslow centered trade where he went with all our other youngin's to compensate or a Dragic non-Whiteside-or Winslow trade but not a young player with potential (Yes that still counts as value) and a primed starter. A Whiteside trade even but not down with over-compensating for Kyrie.

He's a 4 time All Star on a great contract for the next two years, so I wouldn't blame the FO for anything tbh

8. Anyway, back to Irving. Minnesota and Miami, as reported by multiple outlets, probably round out the top three when it comes to teams apparently most serious about a deal. But a few executives around the league have said it’s hard to envision the Cavs trading Irving to the Heat without getting back center Hassan Whiteside as part of the deal.

9. ESPN’s report that the Heat are floating point guard Goran Dragic and swingman Justise Winslow was shot down by another reporter — but the ESPN report appears to be true. The Cavs shied away from a Dragic-Winslow proposal, according to a source, so the Heat are trying to make it look like they never put the offer out there. “But they have,” one league executive said. “And now they’re covering their butts because they don’t want (Dragic or Winslow) to get pissed.”

10. Moral of the story: Irving isn’t headed to the Heat for Dragic and Winslow.

I think Walton is NBA ready like TJ was his rookie year.

for real? I'd take weber and send walton to the d league if we could. Weber has paid his dues.

Just not impressed with Weber. Good reason why he keeps bouncing around. Can't shoot and poor at running offense.

Same. But it's not going to happen and i'm good with that. Any potential deal has already been squashed by this leak and denial. Cavs leaked it in purpose to throw some turmoil into the Heat's happy home. Sure Lebron the true snek had something to do with it for sure.

The last person on this team that should be traded is Whiteside. He is the one with the hardest skills set to find. Centers who can lead the league in blocks one year, & rebounding the next is almost impossible to find. Add that he can hit his freethrows, has soft hands, & can finish just about anything around the rim. There is no way we could find another player that can give us the impact that Whiteside does.

Now undersized SG's that are often injured, & play no defense are easier to find. Hell Scorers are easier to find, cause thats what most players want to be. I know its prettier for the common fan to like to see players dunk, & shoot 3's, & dont care about defense, rebounding, setting screens, & all the other dirty work that it take to actually win, but that what is important.

If we are going to beat the CAVs, Celtics, or even GS, we are going to beat them by out rebounding them, out working them, pounding them inside, & playing suffocating defense. We will never beat them at their own game.

All this team really needs is health. If they are healthy they are a top 3 team in the east.

Good point. Especially since Woj leaked it too right?

After this leak, or fake news according to Riley, if there was any chance of a deal, that chance is gone.

Agreed 100%. His name shouldn't even be brought up in trade talks.

This rumor was leaked just to weaken our team. That's why the Heat made the denial. Otherwise, they would have just ignored the static.

The meta game is strong here. That's how you break a team like ours. Turn these men who are friends into anonymous interchangeable cogs and screws.

Re: Weber. Give him a chance. Put him in camp and see if you can teach him to shoot without panicking. His defense is excellent. If it works out, we have a good backup. If not, we lose nothing much.

Regardless, Walton and Williams need to work in Sioux Falls until the trade deadline. Then we'll reevaluate.

Heat got outmaneuvered. Pat shouldn't have made the offer in the first place, everyone know's it wasn't enough. Goran can handle it, he's a vet. Justise needs the full confidence of the FO and shouldn't have his name dangled in wack trades. Phuck the cavs.

Winslow will be fine, he's a GROWN MAN at the end of the day. Trade rumors shouldn't hurt these guys, they know it's a business. Stop acting like they are little kids.

I think Irving is a top 15 talent, who doesn't play like one. In his current form, he needs a lot of help from his teammates in order to overcome his weaknesses as a player. He has shown that he can reach this level at times, especially in key playoff moments, but finals kyrie and usual kyrie are very different players.

TBH the kyrie who plays for the cavs makes all star teams off of popularity and by being in the eastern conference and is barely a top 25 player. I enjoy watching him get buckets more than any other scorer in the league, but he is one of the most overrated players by far.

Guys like him and Isaiah Thomas can only function this well on teams that can surround them with guys who thrive off the ball and can compensate for their lack of defensive ability. We have a roster like that, so in theory he could represent an upgrade over Goran dragic if he did reach that top 10/15 potential that I think he has. But definitely not at the price that's being reported.

I'd say Goran is a top 30-40 player in the league, and one can make the argument that he's proven to be a better leader than kyrie is. On top of that, he's much more dependable physically than kyrie, whose missed major portions of seasons multiple times in his career.

In a league where wings and point guards are thriving, Justise Winslow and Goran dragic are both immensely valuable. The idea of kyrie irvings potential is too, but his current production and his potential are two different things. In reality, hes proven to be just slightly better than Goran dragic, and definitely not worth a hefty package from a team who bonded so well last year. My feelings aside, we may just be better off as a team theoretically with Goran and Winslow than if we had Irving. Dragic is a really good player and Irving is not as good as his shoe sales and reputation would lead one to believe.

I don't want to trade Whiteside but what if:

Kyrie for Whiteside straight up

Dragic and TJ for Lamarcus Aldridge and 1st round pick.

Opens up a max contract slot for next season if Aldridge opts out

Return to Miami Heat
