You run the risk of pissing Bumgarner off but the appeal is, "look. be honest. We aren't going anywhere but we have Posey signed and we are building this team around you."
Bumgarner may never be the same again and, even if he will be, it will likely take another season or two for him to recapture his form. Crawford and Belt are guys who should be a part of the team. If they're not going for a total rebuild including trading Posey, they don't really have much left in the way to get enough assets back where a total rebuild would make sense. Their farm system seems to have gotten a boost from drafting Heliot Ramos where they have 5 solid prospects atop their developmental pipeline with maybe 2 or 3 of them close to contributing in Christian Arroyo and Chris Shaw and maybe Tyler Beede.
Honestly, I think they have to grin and bear it with the current roster and hope things turnaround in the short-term. Pitching is the biggest problem for San Francisco right now.
