Kyle Anderson

Post#1 » by 12footrim » Mon Jul 24, 2017 2:28 pm

Is he going to get a chance this year?

He's in the top 15 SF's in RPM and is just about to turn 24. Seems like now is the time he either gets a more defined role or you should move him. With Simmions being gone, Gay likely handled with lightly I would expect and minutes at PF open do you think 20 to 25 minutes might be possible?

I really thought he was going to get a shot but the Gay signing kinda threw a wrench in that.

You guys are a little weak on PF minutes. You think he could be being penciled in there? I read some stuff on Gay saying you guys had a plan for him. I'd imagine that included being handled very precautionary especially early in the year. Also with Parker out and Mills as your best PG it seems like you could use Anderson's creation.

I'm trying to decide my keepers on a 20 team dynasty fantasy league. I can justify keeping him in the 11th round. I just don't know who else that's 24 years old would be any better to take a chance on. If he gets 20 minutes a game I would be pretty happy.

Kyle should have a bigger role this year with Simmons gone. He showed well when he got time, and played well against elite teams in spurts (at Cleveland in reg. season, Golden State games), White will be Simmons of two years ago, I believe, in terms of rotational situation.

I don't know why, but Kyle reminds me of Shane Battier.

Won't wow you, usually, but every now and then Kyle will bust out a really nice play on either end of the floor... a big rebound, a big steal, a superb pass, a timely jumpshot from the baseline or in the corner...

Not as versatile defensively as Shane was because of obvious quickness difference, but has more length defensively, and is a notably better ball handler and passer. Shane got by more on fundamentals, open shooting from 3, and versatile defense.

Pop either gives him minute this season and puts him in team's plans going forward or he is walking (as he should) next offseason for nothing whatsoever, like CoJo and Simmons. Let's be honest one of the main reasons Simmons didn't want to sign back with the Spurs was precisely playing time and opportunities for career growth. I could see Kyle feeling the same if Pop doesn't play him at this point. He has done everything asked of him except perhaps being more aggressive shooting. He knows the road to playing time so we shall see.

wow ... for fantasy leagues.. the Spurs are very unpredictable. If he were to get 20 minutes a game he would be a good pick up, when he plays enough minutes he registers contributions across the board: some scoring, boards, assists, steals, a block here or there... problem is his minutes have been very scarce, a lot of garbage time when he tends to defer Murray or someone new trying to get reps in the team.

It's a contract season though and he could come in emboldened. He gained confidence in the playoffs and that is the kind of competition that promotes player growth. He's a good play I guess. Has been healthy all season and as you said, he's likely to pick up minutes IMO.

I like to stay away from the Spurs in fantasy when at all possible like you said because they are unpredictable and rest so much. I think if anyone is going to be playing down the stretch when fantasy playoffs are happening it's the younger guys like Anderson at least.

He can do a lot of things though, he's young, he actually plays some on good team, and the real anaylitics like RPM seem to back him up as a good player. Some of the things I look at. It's kind of his time as well. If he's not going to play much this year hopefully you guys move on from him. I can't see the Spurs not invest minutes and then invest a contract. I think someone would pay him 7 or 8 million personally. Jeremy Lamb got that I think. Young wings that have showed anything should and do get paid.

Hey had a freaking 21.6 Player Eff Rating in 15 playoff games last year as a 23 year old and a .600+% true shooting.

This was his per 36 rates

15.3ppg
8.5rpg
4.6apg
1.8 spg

He played like an all star in the minutes he got and most of that damage was vs the warriors. HE had one of the highest net ratings on your team. I really don't know what you were watching. His last game he put up 20 points and a great line infact in only 26 minutes.

I like Kyle, I just wish he would attempt to score the ball more. Should work on his post game, with his height and wingspan he can easily score over anyone

9.5ppg
6.3rpg
3.3apg
1.8spg
.50% FG
75% FT
+8 net rating
in 20.5 minutes per game

vs Warriors

I don't know how you get much better than that kind of production. He was really good in that series and the entire playoffs. Really he played at all star levels in the playoffs. Much better than in the regular season infact and when he was asked to do more.

Bull. He even started one of the 4 games. Had 20 points 7 rebounds and 4 steals in the elimination game. You didn't pay much attention.

i really didnt enjoy watching him play last season because he was too scared to shoot. apart from that he is one of those useful guys who does a lot of stuff that i dont really notice much until i look at the box score.

Kyle Anderson can't be a SF. I think Pop is starting to realize that. He plays a whole lot more smallball PF now than as a SF. I'm hoping this is Kyle's chance to shine and possibly crack into the starting lineup. Obviously with Parker out, our starting unit really needs another playmaker and unless you start Manu, Kyle is probably the best option. Pop don't seem to like that Gasol/Aldridge tandem too much and I think with how thin our frontcourt is, LMA will play a whole lot of minutes at Center. I'm more confident in Kyle Anderson getting minutes over Joffrey.
