We need major leaguers because we're trying to compete next year!

what implication does this have on the prospect? He's making $5.5M this year, probably owed a little over $2M for the rest of the season, maybe we get a better one because he's a contract coming back and we do them a favor? Maybe we get a lesser one because we get a player coming back?

All I know is that our OF's should be expendable now, specifically Zeke, Bautista and Pearce. We can play Nori for a month and then try out guys like Pompey and Alford.

lmao, just checked and Aoki is still arbitration eligible next year, so he's probably coming back. I guess we're looking at our new LF/RF.

Aoki makes 5.5 mil this year. I would be shocked if they offer him arbitration for 2018. Has to be a salary dump by the Astros.

Aoki was a pretty solid player until this season. Being 35, though, it's difficult to have any confidence that he'll be a pretty solid player again.

He's a far more entertaining bad defender, too.

Aoki makes $5.5 million this season and that's it. I wonder if we had to eat much of Liriano's deal?

Their 9th ranked prospect. Is in AAA. Has already made his MLB debut.

Wow that Minor League is ranked #9 in Houston Organazation.

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50
A bargain signing for $20,000 out of the Dominican Republic in 2011, Hernandez swiftly established himself as one of the best all-around athletes in the Astros' system. His prospect stock took a huge hit after he hit .219/.275/.362 in Double-A in '15, but he made adjustments last year, batting .307/.377/.459 in the upper Minors and making his big league debut. He homered three times in his first nine starts for Houston before cooling off down the stretch.

Hernandez sparked his turnaround by toning down an overly aggressive approach and improving his ability to recognize pitches. While he can make further improvements in both regards, he's doing a better job of making consistent contact (cutting his strikeout rate from 25 percent in '15 to 18 percent last year) and tapping into his solid raw power from the right side of the plate. He has started to wait for pitches to drive, and he draws a decent amount of walks rather than getting himself out with impatience.

Hernandez has plus speed and knows how to use it on the bases, making him a potential 20-20 threat. His quickness doesn't play as well in the outfield, where his instincts remain somewhat raw. He's a competent center fielder and more of an asset in right field, where he has a strong arm and saw most of his action in 2016.

Didn't think we would get anything in top 15 in any organization for Liarno.

AAA player who's already played in MLB a bit. 9th-ranked prospect in Astros org. Hitting .279 in Triple-A Fresno with 12 HR's and 20 doubles in 79 games, 301 AB's. K% is high at 24%, but any No. 9 in any org for Frankie is a solid return. I guess that answers my question about whether the prospect we get for Aoki brings the value of the ML up or down.
