Magic Waive Marcus Georges-Hunt

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Tue Aug 1, 2017 3:40 am

I wanted to make a separate thread to discuss this.

Marcus Georges-Hunt likely had little chance to make this roster barring a trade as the 15 man roster is probably set barring a trade.

They probably did it as a courtesy to him but if he does not have a better opportunity elsewhere, he could be a candidate for a two-way player slot.

After Afflalo was signed, it was fairly hopeless for him. But Georges-Hunt does look like a 400th man in the NBA and he should bounce around teams the next couple years. Indeed injury concerns for the Magic at the SG slot, he would be the first man brought in (as he knows the system).

EDIT:
Interesting from the O-Sen:
The Magic still are able to sign Georges-Hunt to a two-way contract. Under that kind of contract, Georges-Hunt would spend the bulk of the season with the Magic’s new minor-league affiliate in Lakeland but would be allowed to spend up to 45 days on the Magic’s regular-season roster (in addition to being on the Magic’s roster before Lakeland’s training camp begins and after Lakeland’s regular season ends).

Yeah he did a good job in SL but as most know that doesn't always translate well to the real season. And yes, he can still get signed to a two way deal.
