We want a veteran PG to start, so that would be Ron Baker.

Nice P&T piece on grading Jamel Artis's summer league play. Phil signed Artis, a 4 year college player, to a partially guaranteed contract just days before he was fired by Dolan which, parenthetically, I find pretty interesting. That means that whatever caused Dolan to fire Phil, it happened during those intervening days.

Somehow, Phil was showing good judgment of basketball talent and showing no judgment at all in just about everything else. Or was the talent being decided by his scouts?

I'm not certain about Artis. Didn't we see the beta version of him earlier, as Ar-test?

Trade proposal I came up with. 3 team with NYK/Hou/Clv

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ycnu6vdc

NYK Out: Melo + Oquinn + 2018 top 6 protected first which become unprotected in 2019 or 2020. (Be willing to waive prot)
NYK in: Kyrie Irving

Cleveland Out: Kevin Love + Iman Shumpert + Kyrie Irving
Cleveland IN: Carmelo Anthony + Eric Gordan + Kyle Oquinn + Chinanu Onuaku + Ryan Anderson + first round pick from NYK + First round pick from HOU + 2nd round pick from houston

Houston Out: Ryan Anderson + Eric Gordan + Chinanu Onuaku + first round pick + 2nd round pick
Houston in : Kevin Love + Iman Shumpert

Who says no? Cleveland doesn't lose much since all they use Kevin Love for is a Ryan Anderson type of role anyways. Anderson wouldn't be a huge downgrade from Love and Melo would be a good addition. Lose Kyrie but gain some talent back plus got Derrick Rose for essentially free. Get 2 first round picks in the deal + a young prospect in Onuaku. Cleveland could get more, but this would be a solid haul for a player forcing his way out.

  The Cavs say no. That is a pure horrible deal. They loose the best two players in that deal.

& Your reasoning is "Cle doesn't loose much." & "Get some talent back but they got DRose for free." lol come on man.

I would have to agree with 2Mas and the rest of the trade board in killing the deal from the Cav perspective. I suspect a point guard with skill will be a part of the required return while the Suns might comply with Bledsoe and Jackson, a couple of unguaranteed contracts and take on additional Cav salary in addition to Kyrie. I think Shumpert has been mentioned but I expect more players and teams may be involved as it's so much easier as the dollars rise to meet trade requirements and lower luxury tax payments, which is very likely to be a precursor for Gilbert. I'd not be surprised if the franchise is up for sale shortly as Gilbert looks to avoid the risk of losing James and the subsequent drop in value of the franchise.

I agree with both... and Omar Cook... I seriously just want to see young bodies in camp and on the court with KP, THjr etc... especially if Melo is traded.
