I really don't get why a Kemba deal isn't being discussed.
It makes the most sense by far out of all of the deals being discussed. Both sides would benefit.
It should happen.

Kyriw committing his future 2 years out was never in play. I don't blame him at all. Asking him to commit to the team we trade him to wasn't realistic.

Parallels between Kyrie and Neymar
It is quite incredible that while we contemplate what Kyrie's request means, on the other side of the atlantic in the world's most popular sport, Neymar, also a 25 year old superstar, has asked for and was granted the exact same thing. For his transfer from Barcelona to Paris, Paris has to pay a king's randsom of over $250m in transfer fees.
For those of you who don't know, Barcelona is one of the superteams in the soccer world, featuring possibly the greatest soccer player in the history of the sport in Messi, along with superlative stars Neymar, Suarez, Pique, and Inesta amongst others. In a move that's stunned Barcelona (in much the way Cleveland is), Neymar essentially maneuvered to have himself transferred to Paris from behind the scenes.
Barcelona fans are angry. The rest of the soccer world in shock. The transfer fee in his contract, meant to be a poison pill, did not deter Paris from executing it.
And the story that's emerging from there is that, while Neymar can win more titles playing alongside Messi, the story will always be in the end, about Messi, and Neymar would always be mentioned as one of Messi's teammates in accomplishing it. As Sid Lowe from Guardian pointed out today, Neymar engineered the greatest comeback in Champions League history last March - creating and scoring 3 goals in 7 minutes - the equivalent of winning after being down 40 points in the last 7 minutes of the conference finals elimination game in NBA playoffs. And yet, when the stories were written, and the photo of the game was printed, it was of a heroic Messi, with Neymar's feats buried in the word wall.
By moving to Paris, Neymar is moving out of Messi's shadows to define his own story in the sporting world. To craft his own narrative.
Now one can argue, Kyrie can have his own team when Lebron leaves after next year. Yes, but the narrative in Cleveland was and forever will be Lebron James. The pre-LBJ, the first LBJ era, the first post-LBJ era when he left, the 2nd LBJ era and the 2nd LBJ era after he leaves a second time. And Kyrie will always be a by-line in that story. Not a headliner. Not even a co-headliner.
So for Kyrie, if he remained in Cleveland, after Lebron leaves, he would still be defined by Lebron. That's why he has to leave Cleveland. He understands it. So does Neymar. Because they are better than just making money. Just winning titles. They are good enough to write their history in their respective sports.
So I give my kudos to them for grabbing their own destiny in their hands and attempt to shape it. They have the talent, and have earned the right to do so.

Yeah it never crossed my mind he would re-sign with any team upon trade.

Cavs margin of error is slowly decreasing.
- If Irving is still a Cavs by ASG, he loses ton of value as teams wont give the farm for 1,5 years rental (see DMC, George). That is not acceptable for a title contender.
- Now that teams know he wont commit beyond his current contract, we can suppose there wont be any godfather offer.

I like the Messi/Neymar narrative. I can only think of something like that after having 3 Consecutive Finals Trips (with barely playing the 1st one).
I wish the best for both parties. Kyrie has proven that he is one of the best one-on-one players out there and possibly carrying Phoenix with another lethal scorer will be nothing short of exciting.
For Cleveland, a Bledsoe and Rose rotation can be pretty solid. Will Jackson come off the bench?

Not going to happen - Best Player, Best Recent Pick, Best Future Pick for a 2 year contract with no commitment.

if only kyrie was as talented as neymar. neymar is arguably the top three player at the moment, future-wise considering ronaldo's and messi's ages, he will soon-to-be the best player in soccer. kyrie irving cant even help the suns make the playoffs this season. so he will definitely superstar help anyway.

The only reason I think a Kyrie for Kemba swap could work out for Charlotte is the fact that Irving and MKG knew each other as kids and played HS basketball together. The both of them along with Marvin Williams should help us maintain the good locker-room environment the team has built.
Otherwise moving the heart of the team in Kemba, who everyone in the organization and city loves, for a guy who has questionable leadership abilities could be a disaster.

Yeah, and I don't see Kyrie staying with any team he hasn't named. You can't trade a guy like Kemba for him...no way. Bledsoe makes more sense, but I don't even want the Suns to do that unless it was not giving up much more than him, which is unrealistic. But no point in trading for a guy who will almost certainly leave a team in a small market and particularly one in Phx who is far from playoff ready.

Kyrie is just a better player than Kemba though. And I think hes really proven it in the playoffs.
I think Kyrie has the chance to be a Superstar player and Kemba does not.
Kyrie just wants his own team. This way he gets to be on a playoff team and be the man.

I agree that it doesn't make sense for the Suns to do it.
But the Hornets have a much better chance of contending in the East. They just need to add a few more pieces to Kyrie and they're in the same tier as Toronto/Washington/Boston.

Charlotte could lose both Walker and Irving within by 2019 if they trade.

Lol how is it a surprise to anybody on here at all that Kyrie won't commit with 2+1 still left on his deal? The only reason why you'd be outraged or surprised by it is if you're a completely delusional Cavs fan expecting Kyrie to do a solid for the Cavs that literally no other player would do, ever.
Get a grip, Jesus.

Re: Kyrie Trade Discussion Continued
Irving is a huge flight risk. You think somebody who has requested a trade from a championship contender is going to commit without looking at every single option in FA? It's a great move to look out for number 1 on Kyrie's part, but it's a huge red flag to GMs and owners across the league. It does seem very possible for him to sign with the Knicks when his deal is up.

The reason being that they know that Kyrie if he is still their at the beginning of the season will be a cancer . The Suns have the best offer and that doesn't include Josh Jackson and will never include him because you can't guarantee that he will stay with the Suns in two years it's the main reason besides the one I pointed out for why no team will give Cavs what they want. Also since when has any team trading an all star or superstar ever gotten equal value when said team has very little leaverage the answer is never.
Cavs fans think this way because we've been in the same spot the Suns are in before when trying to trade for Love...I remember tons of Cavs fans saying "we have all the leverage, no need to include Wiggins. Dion, Bennett and TT/picks will be enough..." yeah didn't quite work out that way.
Oh and that was for a possible 1 year rental in Love versus 2 year Kyrie...both at the age of 25
Well, the difference is that the Cavs became a contender the second they signed LeBron while the Suns still have a long way to go. With James being already 30 in 2014 Cleveland didn't really have the time to develop a 19yo rookie, they needed win-now players. Phoenix on the other hand is one of the worst teams in the league and nowhere near the playoffs in the West even with Kyrie. All he could do is to get them out of the Ayton, Porter, Bamba mix but I highly doubt he can get them to the postseason. Other than that, with him wanting to be the man he could hinder the development of the younger players. I'm not a Suns fan but I don't like Kyrie in Phoenix at all.
