I think with new chemistry and lesser defense, it could be the other way around. Its Booker, Chriss, Bender and Warren improving that could be the thread killer.

If that's the case, then I won't care about this thread because

WE would be GOIN' TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!if we were in the eastern conference
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

A game-high 14 points, six rebounds and four assists in just 13 minutes against Russia. Doncic turned 18 only a few months ago but you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at him, physically he's already capable of banging with grown men.

I'm not concerned about him being able to defend on the next level at all, switching nowadays is more important on defense than lateral quickness - especially considering that Doncic will probably play the point forward position in the NBA. I can see Doncic being able to develop the ability to switch to defending power forwards, as well as switching onto guards for short periods of time, in the NBA without being a liability.

That's why I vehemently am against trading our pick next year if it falls in the top 5. Porter, Doncic, Bagley, Ayton, and Bamba are all guys who are either 5s or 4s or (in Doncic's scenario) capable of playing the 4. If Chriss is the guy who is out in the trade, it leaves Bender, who I believe can play either the 4 or 5. Getting a playmaking big is great for this team, and while Doncic is the most wingish of the group, I think he can defend 4s well enough if we commit to the small ball lineup.

RJ Barrett reclassified to 2018 so he's draft eligible in 2019 with Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish and Bol Bol. Depending on what Bagley does those HS classes are stacked.

Any first rounders need at least top-5 protections for three years.

Doncic is an 18 yr old kid, he's not going to guard 4's. He can play 1-3, with him guarding 3's. I love the kid by the way. I see him as a cross between Magic and Bird. I would love to see the Suns somehow get Bagley and Doncic, then declare they are ready to win.

I mean on switches he should be able to hold his own - maybe not yet in his rookie season, but definitely down the road. I don't mean that he's going to be a full time 4, I mean that I'm not as convinced about the defensive issues that are raised because I see him as a player who can become a versatile team defender - which is more important in today's league than a one-on-one defender.

Issue is pairing him with Booker defensively.

He weighs 230. His body is not that of an 18 year old. I think he can easily guard a small ball 4.

A small ball 4 is essentially a 3, so yeah I agree with that.

I think he's a little better than Booker defensively right now, but by no means a shutdown defender. I understand your worry about that.

For now, I still like porter, ayton, Bagley if he declares, and possibly bamba over Luca.

Didnt know Sixer's added that protection to the LAL pick. Why exactly did the Celtics make that trade?

The Celtics get the pick if it's 2-6, if not they get unprotected kings pick in 2019. Its not too bad, I'd have kept fultz and traded Thomas.

But Sixers only get it if it falls outside the top 5 or is the #1 overall pick right? So basically if it's one of the premier top 5 (if Bagley is in draft) there is a pretty good chance Boston gets it. If it's outside the top 5, they probably think it's a big drop off.

But if Boston doesn't end up getting THAT pick, they get the Kings #1 pick in 2019, which will likely be a pretty good pick.

Regardless, the Sixers ultimately will have likely given up a pretty valuable pick to move up from Jackson (or Tatum) to Fultz.

Boston may not have thought Fultz was THAT much better than Jackson/Tatum to where getting that pick was worth moving down 2 spots.
