The New lakers 2017-2018

Give the management an A and an A plus for using good judgment and wisdom to get players with excellent basketball intelligence and that come from winning programs. Luke Walton has been given the players to build a good foundation similar to the Golden State Warriors; it took time to build the foundation with Curry, Thompson, Barnes Green and others. The new Lakers have the cornerstones in place. Now Luke Walton has to find the right combinations to use and the players will need to adjust to each other; the learning curve will come with time. The nucleus of this team has not been altered too much but almost half of this team has been changed. The change is an excellent and the management has done a very good job to bring good players to the Lakers. The next step is work and player development and team commitment to become a great team again. Free agency should not be consider at this team until mid season; adjusting and playing together requires time. Luke Walton needs time to benefit from who works well in certain scenarios and with certain combinations of players. Laker fans it's worth the wait be patient and stop the chatter about rumors for trades. The management has provided a good foundation of veterans, young players and rookies. Playing time is required for this team to gel into a winner once again; it is going to happen.

Look at the Dodgers Freedman and Zaidi they didn't trade away Bellinger who was drafted by Colletti or Seager.

They made the trades when presented like Darvish and now they have a squad with Youngsters and Vets. they have a plan and they follow their plan.

We Shall see with Magic and Rob. they already traded away Russell but Drafted Ball. so now they have a star and still have Ingram.

As for Luke Walton. he has to win this year. he has all his players. he has his squad.

Putting winning on Luke is a little extreme. He has players, most of them incredibly young and are still at minimum couple years from being threats (if they ever reach that level) and the rest are not much more than role players

If you're expecting miracles from this roster and Luke it's going to be a long season for you.

What I want to see is consistency and improvement. I don't care how many games they win as long as there's a clear improvement in the teams ability to play as a team, we start to see a real system/style of play emerge, a defensive philosophy that shows it can work and the kids we need to develop are getting valuable minutes over wins

With the offseason changes the team made we are basically scraping last years foundation and starting over... It's going to take time in a very competitive conference where everyone the Lakers play will be on the throttle

What I want to see from Luke is him putting his players in a position to succeed. I want to see him creating plays with the specific players we have in mind.

Lonzo shot well from the 3 at UCLA b/c Alford put in plays where he would be able to catch-and-shoot over double the amount of times that he had to create a 3pt shot himself. Let's hope they don't let the offense simply become give-the-ball-to-lonzo and just let him do work.

Luke has not really shown anything special as a coach so far so I am hoping this is the year we get to see why he is the guy to lead us to our future.

Luke had the job of showing just enough promise and talent to keep the team and perspective players interested while still securing a top three pick. I think he achieved both and it's exciting that he won't be shackled with tank Commander this year. This will be a less frustrating year for that if no other reason.

New front office did well and we are now pointing fwd and even with the rental players we are a better constructed team.
