Even calling Lebron better, there has been a growing contingent of people over the last 5+ years trying to be contrarians and talking about how Kobe is the most overrated player. "OMG he shoots the ball 50 times to get 50!" Ummm... no he doesn't, he did at the end of his career because the dude was playing on one leg and the organization just let him run roughshod over everyone with no one to keep him in check. Two, Kobe in his price was a top level defender, one of the most underrated aspects of his game.

Kobe never recovered from the Achilles injury. He lost his lift on post ups.

Kobe killed the Sixers against AI, we would stop Shaq then Kobe would take over. Kobe was a very good defender.

Couldn't agree more.... if you give me the option of picking only 1 player to watch I am choosing Kobe over Lebron every day of the week.

Completely understand why Fultz looks up to Kobe... they both like to shoot. Nothing better than watching a guy that can shoot the rock get in a zone. Lebron never captured my imagination in the same way. Lebron is dominant but it doesn't make him enjoyable to watch.

Although I love Simmons I could fully end up falling in love with Fultz more because he plays the way I love to watch basketball.

Like this model jersey better than last year. Think the drop shadow looks much better when not staring at it super up close.

Best jerseys in the league.

Sadly yes. I think everyone can acknowledge he's a closet Lakers fan though so no surprise to anyone.

If Lebron decides to come here what Fultz says or thinks won't matter. Fultz even being on the team would hardly matter.

Lebron would be coming to play with Simmons and Embiid more than anything else. Said another way, the only way Lebron considers us is if Simmons and Embiid are blowing up.

Yeah Fultz posted a praying symbol about Bron coming here, so he obviously would be on board.

Not a big deal at all, but I do think Fultz being on the team does matter. He is part of the core that would make Bron come here along with Simmons and Embiid.

He is part of the core and he matters in that sense, but he isn't going to be a deciding factor for Lebron imo.

I love how we're tossing shade at our new number one pick who is a perfect fit (on paper) with our 2 best players and he hasn't even played yet. I get that we gave up a pick, but come on. Welcome to Philadelphia, where fans hate on you before you put a step on the court.

its only going to get worse.

every little mistake will get magnified into threads about how we should have taken so and so and yaddi yaddi yadda. I am on record as wanting Jackson or Fox over Fultz and I too worry about did we give up too much...but what was done is done; he's here now and I'm not about to find any and every reason as to why he sucks and my preferred pick is totally better. I mean we really sitting here railing on a kid who has been a scorer all his life preferring a scorer over more of a distributor? Really?

This place is going to be insufferable when it comes to Fultz (both ways mind you....as with anything there are those on the other side of the extreme).

It won't have to even be a mistake. Fultz could average 25 ppg the first month of the season, and you'll get some dork on here saying Ball or Jackson averaging 8 and 5 are playing better than him because some mickey mouse metric "says" they are and then get on some soap box about "impacting the game in other ways" which is often code for "I don't have an argument to support my claim, so I will point to unseen things that can't be proven to make my case."

People who are secure in their opinions don't need to promote an agenda.

Btw, for the record, and I did these polls for this specific reason, 70% of our board had Fultz ranked #1. If it seems like people here don't like him, it's vocal minorities, contrarians and trolls.

I think that we should all be optimistic about Fultz. He is a Sixer now, so you can't keep crying over the spilled milk of wanting a different player.

He fits the team like a glove, works hard, and seems to have the right attitude. He is coming into a great environment, and I expect him to flourish, whether immediately, or in a year or two.

Hopefully people will just give him the benefit of the doubt, and let him take his rookie lumps without getting down on him if and when he struggles.

As an alpha, Ball is a better impact player than Fultz. A generic team + Ball as alpha should be a better team than with Fultz.

Unlike Ball who seems to have handicap on scoring that he favors on passing to teammates (think Ish Smith or Rondo). The problem with Fultz game is he's like Melo or Kyrie that they're too gifted as a scorer (referred as a match-up nightmare) that they feel like they don't need their teammates help. It's tough to say since Fultz has been playing with crappy teammates ever since college to SL. .

For instance, I don't think Ball would have excelled with our SL team while I think Fultz would have performed much better with Kuzma and Ingram. P.S. Lakers performed just as well without Ball.

But I think playing with Ben and Biid should change things for Fultz. He can be a lot more selective with his shot selections and be more fluid (more movement) on offense. Less ISOs, less contested shots and such for more open and high % shots. Also more assists opportunities with Biid and Ben as a roll man or at transition.

For CHAMPIONSHIP teams, PGs are rarely alphas. They're more like beta for alpha forwards or centers. And personally, I find it tough to win at an elite level with alpha past first PGs. Side note, its also one of the main reason GSW went hard for KD aside for talent. Winning with an alpha PG is an outlier and its tough to sustain IMO. With this reason and the positionless movement, I'd value Fultz over Ball.

..the GSW is trending towards KD being their alpha and steph is very slowly taking a seat back

Regarding the trade, there are several ways to view it. In terms of value, it's tough to say since we don't know Fultz' upside. But in terms of impact, I think we're a lot better with Fultz than with Tatum or Ball.

All in all, It's really how you look at it. Bottom line is we're very likely to be a better team with the trade and Fultz. The team has talent that seems to compliment very well with one another while there's no log jam or some sorts that looks like road block to our team's potential other than health and player development.

I'd rather have what we have right now that worrying how to make Ben Simmons-Ball duo work and how will we space the floor with Josh Jackson and Ben Simmons shooting or fitting Tatum's heavy ISO game in our offense.

I agree Fultz should fit really well. We needed someone to defend guards and he has the wingspan to be a good defender. Also, Fultz and Simmons should be very good in transition. The ball movement should be exciting.

Yeah, that's the good thing playing with other talented players, the focus of D can be on Biid and Ben that you can be a pressure release valve that can operate on less pressure.
