My mistake opening night is Oct. 18 at Dallas. Looking over the schedule, I think I must have miscounted. I have us at 23 wins, which seems pretty low given that I believe we are a scrappy 30-35 win type team. The schedule starts out pretty brutal. A ton of road games to start. The league is helping us towards the direction that most of us want I guess. Lol. Just follow the path..but play hard doing it I don't wanna see amateur hour out there lol

PF: Ersan Ilyasova/John Collins

OR is it:
PG: Dennis Schroeder/Malcolm Delaney

SF: Taurean Prince/Kent Bazemore/Nicholas Brussino
PF: Ersan Ilyasova/John Collins/Luke Babbit

In either line-up, I expect to see Bembry running the offense some.

So looking at your roster, how many of these players do you see on your roster in 3 years ??

5 at most - Shroeder, Bembry, Prince, Collins and Dorsey

How many holdovers are there on any team from the first year of their rebuilding?

Can you post the schedule if you have it?
Only 2 things I want to know - is the 1st home game a weekend game? I'll ask for my usual burthday gift (tickets to opening night) and 2. Does Atlanta get it's MLK game back at home?

Everything else..meh
I figure the NBA will screw us early with a ton of roadies. We'll prolly have the most back to backs, play the most teams coming off a rest day while we played the night b4, no National TV games (and no games on NBATV don't count), travel tje most miles in a short span, we'll be cannon fodder for the rest of the league.

I'm calling Denver and Sap as home opener.

I though Dedmon might be on that list, he has the look of a decent (backup) big but that was about the number I thought as well

Mike Cunningham wrote:No national TV games for rebuilding Hawks

The Hawks face the prospect of a tough rebuilding season in 2017-18 and the NBA has determined that not many people outside of the area want to see them.

The lack of national television games for the Hawks is another indication of the low expectations surrounding the team.

New Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk told NBA.com last month that his focus is on developing the team’s young players and avoiding onerous contracts while creating a nucleus.

Is MC not counting NBATV as nationally televised? Yeah, I get that.

My suspicion: if this teams has a horrid start and struggles through the first half...this roster of misfits and rookies will quit on the team when the youngsters hit that rookie wall and they are eliminated from the playoff race. Meaning our record post-All Star break could be brutal

23-25 wins seems like a solid projection.

(My official predictions will be posted in the pre-season.)

Home opener against Denver and Sap. Man. That's going to be tough for him and some of the fans. Mainly me.

IIUC, there is a massage therapy section in the new stadium rebuild. #HappyEndings

Gotta love that first 10 (or so) games for the Hawks. 7 of 10 on the road, 3 sets of back2backs, a set of 4n5nights and a partridge in a pear tree.

To the league's credit, they're reducing the schedule-burden on 29 teams .. mainly by screwing 1 team. :x

Slow start to the season guaranteed. As if we didn't have enough going against us. I'm glad we got the MLK game back in town but that feels like an empty 'pat on the head' gesture from the league considering the multiple ways they've screwed us for the other 81 games. I mean, really, the MLK game has to happen in Atlanta anyways so why should we give them credit for fixing their own egregious error?

Yea, what the hell. I thought they had eliminated 4/5 altogether. I wonder if the Hawks volunteered for the roughest schedule possible.

Everybody but the Hawks the new rules are for.

Some of the new improvements include:

• Eliminating stretches of four games in five days and 18 games in 30 days.

• Reduction of five games in seven nights to just 40 instances across (1.3 per team), down from last year when it was on the schedule 90 times (three per team).

• Reduction in number of back-to-backs to 14.9 per team, down from 16.3 per team. In all, 40 back-to-backs have been eliminated from last season.

• Reduction of single-game road trips by 17 percent.

• Reduction in single-game road trips over 2,000 miles by 67 percent; there are only 11 of them on schedule.

• Increase in weekend games from 549 to 568, much of the boost coming on Saturdays. Previously the NBA avoided Saturdays and Sunday afternoons during football season to dodge conflicts.

The Ringer chimes in on the Hawks NBA Schedule:

Why do the basketball gods hate the Hawks?

Atlanta will travel to Dallas, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Miami, and Chicago before playing a single home game. The Hawks struggled to make playing in Philips Arena an advantage last season, finishing only three games better at home than on the road, so it’s not the worst thing for Atlanta. But the Hawks’ depleted roster likely won’t have the experience to capitalize on home games this year, either — of the 16 guys on the squad, only one Hawks player touts a career average of 24 minutes per game or higher.

(Are you there, God? It’s me, Ersan Ilyasova.)

I guess in other years I might be upset at the schedule, but not this year. Again, I hope we compete, we share the ball, and we build chemistry, but not through wins. We need a top 6 pick (Bagley,Doncic,Porter,Ayton,Bamba,Bridges).

Return to Atlanta Hawks
