Well if that's the case then I am sorry for you guys but excited for us. I look at that as a bargain to fill a huge need for us.

Well, Millsap's off the table. I sure hope the good guys are cooking something tasty with LMA.

Re: realistic offseason
what a crap off season, spurs going backwards while everyone out west is improving their roster...
17/18 summer will be also depressing since they got everyone extended...
showing loyalty to has beens on the roster, cant wait till kawhi shows them what loyalty is, wasting his prime filled with scrubs and has been players living on past glory.... i wont blame him if he leaves

Re: realistic offseason
OK, we can now see the outline of the 17-18 Spurs pretty clearly. (Assuming no trade of LMA - which I think would have happened by now if it is going to happen before the deadline). It is clear the FO is going to operate as an above the cap team, which gives them no capspace due to retained rights, but a full MLE, which we have used to sign Rudy Gay.
Lauvergne - Pau (will be paid for opting out, likely with the 20% raise possible from his non-bird rights; he may only get a 1 year contract) - ?West (we can offer him a 20% raise over the vet due to non-bird rights, and he seems unlikely to get more elsewhere?
LMA - Gay - Bertans
Kawhi - Anderson - ?Blossomgame?
Green - ?Simmons (If someone was going to offer him enough money to make PATFO blink, he would have been gone already. He only leaves now if he pulls an SJAX)? - ?Manu?
Mills - Murray - White (may well jump over Murray, and/or play some SG) - ? Forbes ? - (Parker)
This is not the offseason I was hoping for... but next year the FO is in a position to try again - they will again be in a position to get at least one max FA, maybe 2. I would call this a C - offseason. It's not a fail, after the only 2 big moves I thought were a semi-decent ideas didn't pan out, the FO has set up for another try next year. But I do not believe we have improved our position relative to GSW and the other competitors out west, and I think our smaller moves could have better. In particular, I do not like the Gay signing a lot; value is OK, but I would much rather have had Tyreke Evans as backup 2/3 and potential Manu replacement, especially if we could get more years on him... say 4yrs/$21M )(with both team and player options on yr 4) vs 1 year $3M. Furthermore, I would like to see more aggressiveness from the FO in the second round of the draft - I very much wanted Jonah Bolden (went at 36).
By comparison consider the following roster.
Lauvergne - Pau - West
LMA - Bolden - Bertans
Kawhi - Anderson - ?Simmons?
Green - Evans - ?Manu?
Mills - Murray - White - (Parker)
Would have been a B from me. Same chances for a max FA next season, better balance, more development potential (Bolden, Evans)...

Re: realistic offseason
Anyone high on john henson? Michael kidd gilchrist?
San antonio needs to pick up the phone and trade Anderson for henson or something. Obviously gets the ball rolling to add a 3rd team to balance the salary cap

I don't mind Henson but he's so damn inconsistent I doubt Pops would be interested in coaching him.

Re: realistic offseason
It`s time to start firing people in the FO. 2 really bad contracts this season - Patty Mills at $50/4yrs and now Pau at $48/3 yrs. Our future cap is F'ed for 2 guys who really don't move the needle - and are real problems to play against GS... Kawhi is going to have to think hard about leaving in free agency at this rate.

Re: realistic offseason
Trade LMA to Utah for Favors, they need offense badly and would compliment Gobert. Aldridge would be the clear cut #1 guy there.
Or trade him for John Henson to Milwaukee.
Get more athletic and younger either way at PF/C.

Re: realistic offseason
The next 2 summers is gonna be huge for us.
Next summer, depending on whether Green/LMA/Gay opts out, we'll have enough room for a Max/Near Max contract offer. We have to be able to entice atleast an allstar caliber guy to come here. Otherwise, the summer after that, Kawhi will likely opt out of his Player Option and test FA. It doesn't mean he'll leave, but that's probably our last chance to bring someone in to help Kawhi. If we can't do that in either one of the next 2 summers, Kawhi might not come back.

I've pitched the Favors idea before as well. I really like it for both sides.
If Favors can stay healthy he's exactly what we need and LMA gets to be the primary scoring option again.

Re: realistic offseason
Any interest in Carmelo Anthony and Kyle O'Quinn for LaMarcus Aldridge and Rudy Gay + minimum filler?

Not really to be honest.
