Boston fans don't seem too happy. Wonder what Simmons will say.

Thank God the suns aren't trading Jackson.

I like the trade for the cavs but I dont think the nets pick will be as good as a lot of people are thinking.

He wasn't this last year but he is younger and under contract for longer and Ainge probably didn't want to give IT the max. IT got much better in Boston under Stevens though. It will be interesting to see if each player gets better or worse in their new situations.

Our offer was not enough for Irving, the Cavs have made a great trade. Boston get a top talent, so it's a win-win IMO.

Irving is an amazing player and that is why he has that big time value.

Yeah, I think there is a decent chance the Nets are ok and that isn't a top 5 pick but still I think it's a great deal for the Cavs, given their current situation. It gives them two really good players and very high pick (even if not top 5 it will still be at least top 8 or so) and a pretty good prospect.

the Cavs get better
Boston gets worse by having to lose two core players to make the deal work just in terms of salary
they risk losing Irving after next season (Irving didn't even list Boston as one of his preferred destinations)
Boston loses rebuilding assets
nor can they start a true rebuild because they just signed Hayward and Horford

Wow. That's a better package than Bledsoe/Jackson.

Koby Altman ladies & gentlemen.

Wow. Ainge really blew this. He could have had Butler or Paul George for a deal centered on Crowder and that pick. Instead, he made a near negligible upgrade at PG (which is the easiest position to fill in today's league) while downgrading the wing and losing a pick. You could claim IT becoming an FA is the reason why, but Kyrie becomes one just 1 year later.

IT, Butler, Hayward, Brown, Horford

or

IT, Hayward, Paul George, Brown, Horford

are both SO MUCH BETTER than

Kyrie, Smart, Brown, Morris, Horford.

Just wow.

so the Cavs acquire IT & D-Wade
the bright side for Suns fans: this may persuade Lebron to stay and not form a superteam with the Lakers

He really isn't all that much more amazing than IT. Kyrie is great and all, but that package is an overpay. I expect him to do well in Boston, but they lost that trade.

Ainge didnt want to back the Brinxs truck up for IT. So he needed a new star to bank on and put next to Hayward/Horford. He had to overpay Cleveland due to being not only a conference rival, but a division rival as well. I bet that was the difference between the unprotected Brooklyn pick and say the Memphis pick.

Crazy thing is that they were unwilling to include that pick in deal for Butler or George, two better players. They could have went into the season with IT/Butler/Hayward/Morris/Horford, but instead are doing it with Irving/Brown/Hayward/Morris/Horford.

And all that time Isaiah spent recruiting all these guys to come to Boston and play with him. Instead he goes to a Cleveland team that in my eyes is worse than last season, and most likely will not be re-signed there, looking for his 5th home.

David Griffin said on a interview that Irving wants to play for Stevens. If they win and if they give him the max he is gonna stay in Boston IMO.

Dumb trade by Boston. IT to Kyrie is at best a small upgrade if any.

Because it's the Cavs, you can almost pencil them into winning the lottery this next year. Someone in the organization made a deal with the devil.

I don't think CLE will be worse now. Crowder gives them a big upgrade relative to Shumpert imo on the wing, and IT will replace Kyrie. I mean Kyrie has more potential due to size and age, but IT is as good on both ends because Kyrie never played D in Cleveland anyways. Crowder, to me, brings both shooting and defense, something Cleveland has had to situationally play between Shumpert and Korver.

i'm not going to lie; i was hoping this would loom into the season. so there would be a better chance of BOS/TOR/WAS pulling a surprise upset.
