Re: Pacific Division Draft - Finals - BdeRegt vs WackBone
1. Kevin Durant - 2017 - 16.5
2. Bob McAdoo - 1975 - 22.2 -
3. Andre Iguodala - 2017 - 5.5
4. Latrell Sprewell - 1994 - 17.3
5. Harrison Barnes - 2015 - 8.0
6. Nick Van Exel - 1998 - 11.6
7. Pat McCaw - 2017 - 3.5
8. Clifford Ray - 1975 - 7.0*.85 = 5.95 = 6.0
Total: 89.6/90
Nick Van Exel (36) / McCaw(12)
Sprewell (36) / Iguodala (8) / McCaw (4)
Durant (26) / Iguodala (22)
Barnes (30) / Durant (10) / McAdoo (8)
McAdoo (28) / Ray (20)
My team is built with amazing spacing to stretch a defense with all 5 of my starters being great shooters. Iguodala is an impact player off the bench, while McCaw and Ray add more defense.
match up
KD should have a huge series in this match up. Horry has no chance of guarding him. If Draymond slides over to guard him, KD will still be able to score and takes Draymond away from being to provide help defense. Defensively, Van Exel will struggle with Tiny but my team will freely help off Horry/Draymond/Cousins/Rozier forcing them to hit long jumpers. My team has excellent quickness and shot blocking to help and recover.
Overall, I think my team matches up well with Wackbone's lack of a real SF to guard Durant.

PG: Tiny Archibald (40) / Leandro Barbosa (8)
SG: Klay Thompson (36) / Leandro Barbosa (12)
SF: Robert Horry (20) / P.J. Tucker (28)
PF: Draymond Green (30) / Robert Horry (18)
C: DeMarcus Cousins (36) / Draymond Green (8) / Clifford Rozier (4)
FGA:
Tiny Archibald (72-73) - 22.4... 34.0 ppg, 11.4 apg
DeMarcus Cousins (16-17) - 19.9... 27.0 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.3 bpg
Klay Thompson (14-15) - 16.9... 21.7 ppg, 1.1 spg
Draymond Green (15-16) - 10.1... 14.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 7.4 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.4 bpg
P.J. Tucker (16-17) - 6.0
Robert Horry (01-02) - 5.7
Leandro Barbosa (04-05) - 5.6
Clifford Rozier (95-96) - 2.3
Total: 88.9/90

Beyond Tiny's playmaking, Klay (43.9% on 7.1 attempts), Horry (37.4% on 2.5), Draymond (38.8% on 3.2), Cousins (36.1 on 5.0), Barbosa (36.7% on 2.2), and Tucker (35.7% on 2.4) provide a collective elite group of 3 point shooters.
We get a matchup here which will let Tiny truly shine. No one on Bde's team is equipped to stop him, and helping off the other players will only leave a 35%+ 3 point shooter open, for Tiny to use his elite passing to find. Offensively, I just don't see the answers for Tiny, Klay, nor Boogie. I think all three of them have big series, with the other players playing complementary roles as passers and 3 point shooters, mostly.
Defensively, Tiny will be on Van Exel, and if he kills us, so be it. We can live with him relying on Van Exel in big moments. Klay will be on Spreewell, and I think he serves as a great foil. We are indeed going to have Draymond guard Durant whenever he is on the court. I trust Draymond to use his insane defensive prowess to really bother Durant. I don't think Durant will be his usual self with having to deal with Draymond all game. Also, since Draymond isn't a huge part of our offense, he can focus nearly all of his efforts and energy in guarding Durant. Horry will guard Barnes, and with Barnes' limited role, I doubt it'll be much of an issue. Now, Boogie will be guarding McAdoo when he is at C. I see both of these guys expending a ton of energy on both sides of the court, with both likely having great success offensively and subsequently limited success defensively. Boogie will bully McAdoo down low with his significant weight advantage. (I think we have somewhat different rotations, which make it tricky to predetermine who will guard whom, but just trust we will guard as appropriate. Horry won't be on Iggy at all, for example.) benches aren't much different given the roles the players are expected to perform.
In a nutshell, I think my opponent doesn't have good answers for Tiny, Klay, nor Boogie, while I trust Klay to hinder Spreewell and Draymond to bother Durant. Essentially, I have great answers for 2/3 of his main weapons, whereas I don't believe he has a great answer for any of my big 3.

I'll just say that Sprewell was 2nd team All-D in season chosen and Iguodala off the bench are pretty great answers to guard Klay and Ray off the bench is a very good defender for Boogie for 20 of his minutes.

Dray on Durant is huge. Klay and Tiny make up a huge difference in the backcourt.

If I were Wackbone, I would strongly consider starting PJ Tucker over Robert Horry, Tucker is capable of guarding Durant. Doesn't mean he'll fully stop him, but he'll at least have a better shot of slowing him down than Horry, and you can then have Draymond be the great help defender that he is. But that's not how Wackbone played it, I really do love Wackbone's frontcourt fit with Tiny on offense. Bde has a really good fit with Durant, Barnes, and McAdoo. This is extremely close but I'll go with Wackbone.

I don't think using Draymond to guard Durant is the best use of his talents, but I think he can still be effective. I also am not so confident that BDE's offense outside of KD is set up to fully exploit the advantage that comes from taking Draymond out of his help defense role. Just think the depth of Wack's talent will win the day in this one

Draymond on Durant does enough, and I imagine Boogie will bug McAdoo at least a little bit..
Tiny/Klay have enough of an advantage over Spree/Van Exel to best Bderegt's frontcourt advantage

With the 15th pick in a restricted draft, nice.

Very, very happy to win this one. I thought for sure one of Shaq/Magic/Kareem/Wilt would win, but I guess I was proven wrong. Kind of a unique team draft, as my two main offensive weapons were taken in the 3rd and 5th round, respectively. As far as I know, that's really rare.
Great end to the summer!

Thanks. My only other playoff success was when I won the 70s/90s/10s Draft, and if memory serves me right, I had a late pick in that one too
Just checked, 14th
