What? Why are you just watching that now? That's my most favorite miniseries. You should've watched that over the Memorial Day weekend.

Yeah, i have no excuse. I just kept saving it and saving it. I usually love historical WWII stuff like that, so really not sure why I waited forever. I'm thru ep4. So far, so good. I can't even begin to imagine what it most have been like to be 20 years old, in a plane, getting ready to parachute into Normandy on DDay.

I assume Swedd has probably been watching Band of Brothers on a continuous loop since he was 15.

Nah I've seen the full series only twice :D

I did visit Camp Toccoa and Currahee Mountain one time though. I was on my way through the area to start a section hike on the App Trail and had to check the place out.

Ep6 featuring the medic is one of the best hours of TV I've ever seen. That was fantastic. About to watch ep7. Home from work this week due to hand. Trying to stay off laptop as much as possible (oops), so i have a ton of time to binge tv. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

there is so much good tv at the moment I'm struggling to keep up with it all.
Currently watching (or waiting season return):
Baskets
Ballers
Better Call Saul
Brooklyn 99
F is for Family
Fargo
Game of Thrones
Girlfriend experiance (this was basically softcore porn with Elvis's actual grand daughter playing the lead. I mean, c'mon, how could you not want to watch that?)
Gotham (a lot of people hate this show, but it's kept me entertained for a few seasons now)
Always Sunny
Glow
Handmaids Tale
Jessica Jones
Luther
Master of None (Aziz experimented a bit in the 2nd season with different languages etc and its brilliant)
The Mick
New Girl
Orange is the New Black
Shameless
Silicon Valley
Suits ( team lit here, I pretty much only weatch it for him)
Stranger Things
Last man on earth
Veep
Walking Dead
Wentworth (aussie womens prison show)
Wet Hot American Summer (can't wait for this to return)
Westworld
Your Pretty face is going to hell (weird 15 minute comedy show)
First Dates (I'm addicted to reality dating shows, I don't know why!)

Previously loved and recommend
Bad Education (fun english school based sitcom)
Grinder (was so funny by the end of the season, shame it didn't get renewed)
Freaks and Geeks (its an old call, but its fun seeing the start of so many young stars)
Horace and Pete (Louis CK's online series. Man it was dark and depressing, but so compelling. What a horrible family they were)

I'm glad someone else likes Baskets. I think that show is brilliant.

Saw a YT video where Bill Simmons surprised Dan Patrick on his show by saying that he hasn't yet seen the Lakers - Celtics 30 for 30. It allowed me to sum up my similar thoughts. I just didn't get the hype about it:

Even if it doesn't sound good because of Bill's relationship with ESPN, I totally get his point. The idea behind this film just doesn't scream 30 for 30 for me or what at least it used to mean (no coincidence that back then Bill was there, or at least I think that's what he means). About the first two seasons they made documentaries on people, topics or events that either were not all that covered at their time, were misunderstood (probably ahead of their time) or were a unique, yet trivial standout in their field. Almost all of the documentaries made sense in a "we can now sum this all up for the first time X years later and understand the magnitude/reasoning of what truly happened". Lakers vs. Celtics? Haven't we already spent enough time on that whole thing? It's not like books or interviewees haven't covered that whole rivalry a gazillion times.

Sure, you can provide us with unseen footage and new stories that are cool to hear. This isn't by any means a dig at the people who made the film as they did a good job at it. However, I don't see the "why" in the whole thing. Also, they end up giving it five hours which seems like too much, yet in the end it almost works against them. OK, you give all the attention you can to the 80s. Why don't the 60s get the same shine, though? Those first 30 minutes seemed like an awkward series of "we know you all know these basic facts about Auerbach's Celtics, yet we can't do the film without them".

I hope this doesn't mean 30 for 30 is turning towards the more sexy names for their documentaries. It used to be that at about this time we'd get the late 70s Bullets - Sonics Finals where a league with no super teams, yet plenty of perception and drug issues produced two totally forgotten championship teams. All of this doesn't mean that I didn't watch the Lakers - Celtics one. Yet I would rather see the Bullets - Sonics one. Because that's why you used to tune in for a 30 for 30.

trying to stay offline at home as much as possible to give arms/hands a rest. lots of down time at night. Life sucks.

Anyway, been plowing thru a ton of shows lately.

Handmaid's Tale
Man in High Castle
Snowfall
GoT
Ballers
Hard Knocks
Legends of Chamberlain Heights
Atypical
Band of Brothers
The Pacific
Catastrophie
Comrade Detective
Pushing Daisies
Twin Peaks
Master of None
Wet Hot American Summer 10 years...

just started White Gold last night. About to start American Gods and Black Sails.

Twin Peaks is awful. I hate every second of it. **** you David Lynch.
Legends is the funniest show on TV. As basketball fans, you should be watching. Its Urban Southpark loaded with NBA jokes. The writers are two guys who walked on at UCLA about 10 years ago, one is son of Marques Johnson.
Comrade Detective is fun. Really funny concept.
Master of None was half brilliant, half awful. Mixed bag.
I think I liked the Pacific every bit as much as Band of Brothers. Both were epic.
Atypical is decent pallet cleanser at the end of the day.
Man in High Castle is sloooooooooooooow
HandMaid's Tale was very well done. Crazy alternate world. Ending of season 1 was a bit of a let down.
Jury still out on Snowfall. 3 story lines. One is great, one OK, one boring.

Keep the recommendations flowing. I need more stuff to watch at night.

Black Sails is amazing. I believe its writing is much better than Game of Thrones.

Have you caught up on the season 5 of The Americans?

New show on Netflix starring Jason Bateman in which I watched the first episode recently and am planning on continuing: Ozark.

Essentially Breaking Bad on steroids was my first impression. Only one season out right now.

I don't get it. Just 18 episodes of "where are they now" and nonsense.
