Preseason week 3: bears v titans

Post#1 » by patryk7754 » Wed Aug 23, 2017 9:39 pm

Just got a bleacher report notification saying Trubisky will get time with the first team.

I think Glennon loses his starting job in the game

According to the score, MT will get time with the 1st team at the start of the 2nd half. MG will start the 1st half with the 1st team. MT did get 1st team reps in practice today.

Glennon has been the only sore spot on the team this preseason. The defense will be top 10, ST will be top 10 and running game will be top 10. Glennon will have to show he can hang in this game. I think if we have, at the very least, a game manager at QB we can get a wild card spot. Glennon hasn't even shown the ability to do that. Sanchez has proven he can be a successful game manager and Trubisky has shown out so far. Glennon is at risk of ending up as the third string, imo

So 1st team opens the game, then sits down. Then gets back up in the second half. Okay.

This. Money Mitch has the talent to lead us to the playoffs. By seasons end he will probably learn enough to make us a dangerous team.

Thinking about it, the Trubisky situation is very similar to the Russell Wilson situation. Seattle signed Matt Flynn to be the starter to a contract that was pretty big at the time. Eventually Wilson took the job. we're using Trubisky the same as the Seahawks use Wilson. The more I think about, the similarities between this bears team and the recent Seahawks teams are similar. We're most likely going to be top 10 in defense ST and running with possibly a rookie QB helping us get to the playoffs. Hopefully that means a SB in a year or two.

Does sound idiotic for a preseason game.

Unless the ones play out the first half and then start the 2nd half with Mitch. Which is kind of what I assumed. They must already have their final roster set in their minds (which I also assumed). Good, if that's the case. More game reps for the starters can only help them going into the season.

Glennon saying that this "it feels like deja vu" to him regarding losing his job to Winston a couple seasons ago.

FFS. As far as I'm concerned this guy has a defeatist attitude and really should not even be a 2nd stringer. Even if you feel that way, don't whine about it to the media. STFU and go out and win the job. To go out and basically say that you feel like you're losing your job again to a rookie is not the mindset of a winner.

The more I learn about Glennon and the more I see him or hear him speak, the less I like him and the more I just want him gone from the Bears. He's not even the guy you want backing up Tru.

At any rate it makes this next preseason game very interesting.

I believe if your hold on a starting job stands on a promise more than performance, you have problems. You can almost see MT intentionally spotlighting this problem when he says jobs are earned.

In fact I can't imagine Pace setting himself up like this at the quarterback position. It was way stupid. Football does not work like that.

Glennon does look like a guy who already lost his starting spot.

The pressure of beating put a rookie got to him. He's a chump if he continues to mop.

I mean, it worked out just fine with Seattle.

I think people are putting too much stock in the whole promise thing. Glennon may still start the season, just because they don't want to throw Mitchell into the fire right away, but now I'm pretty confident we will see him start at some point this season.

Also, the whole promise talk to Glennon may have been for Trubisky's sake as to not put that pressure on him and let him just play freely.

It also endears him to his teammates. Now he's a guy that worked himself up from 3rd on the depth chart because the veteran wasn't handling his business rather than I just handed this guy a spot based on draft position. Also gives Trubisky some confidence playing against(And with) 3rd stringers to take the glass half-full approach on him running with the 2's and 3's.

There's a difference however, between a promise of starting, and naming the starter. The promise was offered by Pace in order to get Glennon to sign with the Bears. It does not appear to be related to Trubisky. He wasn't even drafted yet.

So its still dumb. Number 1, I do not believe the Bears were bidding against another team at the price he signed for. Number 2, a promise to an unproven player is a poor concept in football, where again, jobs are earned as Trubisky made the point. So Pace is guaranteed to look either bad or stupid if current trends continue and Glennon still starts, or if Pace bails on his promise to Glennon to go with the rookie.

Money Mitch has played his cards really well... humble, talking confidently but also how far he needs to go, talking about performance.

Ah okay, I don't remember a promise being made before he signed. Thought that was something after they drafted Trubisky to potentially ease both him and Mitch. In that sense I do agree with you then.

I had said I would have rather signed Kaepernick due to him being cheaper and better.

Peyton Manning was at the Bears practice today and helping our QB's...

Manning played for Bears coach John Fox in Denver from 2012-14, and was in the Chicago area on a few errands. He spoke to the Northwestern football team Tuesday, and had shot a car commercial prior to dropping by to see the Bears.

“We talked about the offense a little bit, just how things are going,” Trubisky said. “How he’s doing, how I’m doing, and how this is a good offense because he used to play in a similar one.

“So he was just giving me some pointers, things I could do moving forward, how this is a great offense to be in and how I’ve got some good coaches to help me out. It’s awesome to have him at practice.”
