If Shumpert really wants to be moved, would anyone want to pull a Dudley for Shump swap? Make almost the same money for the same amount of years.

No thanks. I understand the sense of it, but Dudley is worth more I think.

It makes so much more sense to hold onto our high character vets and to keep hotheads off the squad this year.

We are suddenly very thin. I could see us losing games as a result. Perhaps unsurprisingly, McD will go into another season with a ton of talent, little hope and valuable, moveable trade chips - really, just the one, Eric.

The tank is revving its engines.

Cavs have 17 on the roster and you can only have 15. So probably Taveras and Felder are the two that go. Granted, if they move Shumpert that is only one.

Dudley for Shumpert - I don't think makes sense for the Cavs since they got Crowder.

If the Cavs want to save money and feel like they need a big not named Zizic - Chandler for Frye/Shumpert works and would save Gilbert quite a bit of money - I think close to 18 to 20m in total salary and luxury tax dollars. In this type of trade, Suns could even take on Felder or Taveras to save Gilbert even a bit more money. Frye is a high character guy - -expiring and one would think Shump probably opts out after this year. Suns would be getting rid of Tysons contract a year early. At worst, he and Shumpert expire in 2019 if Shumpert opts in.

The Suns could certainly take on Shumperts contract but the Cavs would need to include there first round pick I would think. Not doing it for free. But it would give the Suns three first rounders - could help move in the draft.

How are we thin? Aren't the only ones out Dudley, Reed and Knight? None of those guys really played much last year. Dudley only at the beginning. And we added Jackson who will play. We don't currently have Len signed, but we've never needed more than 2 C's (Williams didn't play early and Chandler late). Bender was out for a stretch as well as TJ.

Unless we have more injuries I think our depth is fine. Especially if Jok can play spot minutes. For now when Booker sits, Jackson and Warren can be on the wings. Spacing might be an issue but I think they'd be fun to watch together and hopefully both do shoot relatively well from deep.

I think it's fairly obvious we signed Jok because we knew about this Reed thing, so that was our solution. I think our depth is fine as long as no other guards or Jackson get injured.

Peters - is that his name? Still hasn't signed

Wonder if he can get more cash going to Europe for a couple years than had back to the Association.

After signing Jok, the Suns have 5.6m of cap space but with Len holding 12m bucks, they should be well enough under after he takes the QO - to take on a contract at the deadline - be nice to get one more first rounder.

I think that should be the goal of Ryan - get one more first round chip to be used for the 2018 draft - package the Heat pick and this third pick to maybe move up. Or be able to use the third first rounder with the Heat pick to move up

Teams with the most practical cap space to take on a "contract" for assets are below so really - those contracts 6m+ teams want moved - this seems to be the competition if a team is not taking back salary. and if Noel takes that 17m - I believe that would take the Mavericks off this lists

Bulls
Suns
76ers
Mavericks
Nuggets
Pacers

Uhhhhh...

Sources: After Isaiah Thomas underwent physical today, Cavs still evaluating injured hip and weighing options w/ completion of Irving deal.

Another week of Kyrie talk is looming with this news, huh. CAVS should come back and take beg for Bled/Tyson/1st for Kyrie, Shumpert if Thomas trade is rescinded.

Explains why Ainge included the Brooklyn unprotected.

Wow I hope the deal gets vetoed with the physical. I want to see what unfolds when that happens.

If the deal is vetoed I think we would immediately see Kyrie traded elsewhere. No way Cleveland vetoes this while holding onto Kyrie. I could see McD calling Cleveland and saying... if you still want, we can trade Bledsoe/Warren and both Miami picks for Kyrie.

Another thing, if Cleveland does get another trade lined up (even to Denver or wherever else for Kyrie) they basically kill two birds with one stone. They still trade Kyrie, and then they create chaos for the Celtics organization. Holy crap that is gold.

I also feel the Cavs wouldn't leak IT not passing his physical if they weren't actively seeking another deal in place.

Lastly (I keep editing after thinking of new ****), does anyone think Cleveland front office would be devious enough to make this deal knowing they could void it since they knew of IT's preexisting injury? Like, maybe they did this to royally screw the Celtics and then still end up dealing Kyrie. I'm really stretching here, but it's the most boring part of the offseason.

If the deal is vetoed, we're back in the drivers seat with very little competition. Bled+ Miami pick would make it work.

I'm really torn about whether I want this deal to be vetoed.

On the one thing, I would find it incredibly funny. The awkwardness of those guys going back to Boston would be epic. Also, the fact that Boston overpaid is a positive to Phoenix in relation to future trades. On the other hand, if Boston is out, and it is because of IT's hip, then that trade essentially became Crowder, Zizic, and Nets pick. Phoenix is one of the few teams who would still make sense, and if you remove IT from the deal, you are left with not nearly as much. Crowder, Zizic is a late first, and then the Nets pick. Something like Bledsoe and Warren might be better than that because Bledsoe>>Crowder and Warren>Zizic.

Regardless, I feel like the most likely thing to occur from this may be that Boston has to add a future pick or something. I don't expect Boston to walk away from that type of request and have to deal with IT and Crowder coming back.

I don't understand the bolded part because why would the Cavs accept the deal just because they are getting an extra pick? Sure the picks are nice, but if IT is dealing with a serious injury or could be out most of the season that really ruins any hope at a championship run this season or any hope of Lebron staying. If I'm the Cavs I back out immediately to find another package that is similar.

make it a three way Isiah and Crowder back to Phoenix - Bledsoe to the Cavs with the Brooklyn pick, Dudley for Shumpert

really I hope the deal goes through as that means Josh Jackson and the Suns pick will not be traded

Return to Phoenix Suns
