I wonder who totes the rock more today between Joe Williams and Carlos Hyde. Didn't find any news about why Joe barely played week two.

Time of possession really got them the last game. Only had the ball for a bit over 20 minutes. Denver held the ball for over 17 minutes longer than SF. As a result, they only rushed the ball 19 times (25 passing attempts) with Hyde getting 8 of those 19.

Up to this point, the 49ers also have listed Hightower ahead of everybody but Hyde, and have had Williams and Bibbs running neck-and-neck with practice reps for whatever reasons. Breida and Mostert behind those guys with the practice reps.

I think up to now most fans want to see Bibbs passed over for a roster spot in favor of Williams and Breida sticking but at least that's the message they're trying to send if you're looking at it from their chart release. We'll see in the end if that thing was ever a valuable tool or not.

Both Shanahans, and people that have been tied to them in the past, have some goofy (non-traditional to be more fair) views and stances when it comes to running backs. If history has anything to do with it, things could change on a dime for them just because of how they treat their backs. I'm not sure I'll ever fully understand them with the backs and was one of several reasons why I was never in love with a Shanahan marriage, especially considering my affinity for the RB position.

we just had a player on special teams take out another one of our players. couldn't see who it was though.

Trying to get caught up to live game action. I'm midway through the 2nd quarter. Since it's preseason it's hard to say exactly what it means but the 49ers have routinely roasted, toasted, and diced Harrison Smith in this first half. Almost every which way you can to a player. I'll give him the one play so far where he came in unblocked and stopped Hyde behind the line right after he got the ball.

I know how many people of all kinds like him but personally can't say I'm surprised about what I've seen from him in this game...preseason or not.
