The Kobe Challenge: Hornets Edition

Post#1 » by Snidely FC » Tue Aug 29, 2017 12:13 am

So Kobe Bryant issued challenges to guys around the league, John Wall, for instance, to make the All-Defense Team, Giannis to win League MVP . . .

So how about Kobe Challenges for some Hornets?

I challenge Frank Kaminsky to become a better than average 3 pt shooter. That sort of thing.

Anyone got a good challenge for a Hornet this season?

I challenge Kemba to try and emulate 2016-17 Isaiah Thomas' offense in every way possible. If IT is capable of doing what he did, I believe in Kemba's ability to do at least 95% of that, while being a better defender. His is the most lofty challenge, because he's the only player we can hold to that level.

I challenge MKG and Cody to take 1 3PA per game apiece this season. They should be able to stretch those long 2s they attempt into some corner threes. Even if they only convert 25-30% of them, it's more valuable than jacking up a long 2 because 1) it's more points per possession and 2) it establishes them as an outside threat, however minor.

I challenge Marvin and Batum to get back to their 2015-16 ways. Shooting better and being more aggressive on D are really the only things I want to see them do (the latter is mainly for Batum).

I challenge MCW to exist on offense, be better than Ramon Sessions, and play like his career depends on it- because it does. That's not a hard challenge, because my expectations for MCW are low- we just need him to not blow ass.

I challenge Dwight to play the role he can play, not the role he wants to play. He wants to be a main piece, fed touches on the inside, and be Kemba's #2 guy. We need him to play the PnR, crash the glass, defend, and score off cuts as a 3rd or 4th option. It's all a mindset- we all know what he's actually capable of.

I challenge Malik Monk to be the best shooting rookie this year. Take after Devin Booker, Klay Thompson, or whoever else, just show us signs that you've got the potential to be a legitimately efficient 18-20ppg scorer or more.

I challenge Frank to become a consistent three-point threat and passer from the high-post. As of now, those are the only skills keeping him in our rotation this season, and he needs to be damn good from three to keep it.

I challenge Lamb to work towards being a 3&D player. Lamb is still an intriguing talent, but he's got to stay focused on defense, and he definitely has to shoot better than 29% from downtown otherwise I have a feeling Treveon Graham is going to take his spot.

I challenge Steve Clifford to give Malik Monk the incredible amount of slack he has shown in the past for Gary Neal, Mo Williams and Marco (INCLUDING getting exposed defensively), and allow him to learn on the job.
