Cam Meredith...how good can he be?

Post#1 » by RedBulls23 » Wed Aug 9, 2017 6:56 am

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MereCa00.htm

So last season Meredith got playing time, mainly due to injuries, and ended up taking advantage of the situation.

He ended the season with 66 receptions, 888 yards, and 4 TDs. He's only 24 and certainly is a good athlete. Those were only done in 14 games and 10 starts.

Do you guys think he can be a really good player, or 2nd or 3rd guy at best?

I honestly think Meredith will put up #1 guy numbers this season if he stays healthy . Last season gave him a huge boost in confidence and it has shown up in camp

If he gets Money Mitch from day one... he will put up 1,000 yds and 8 TDs.

He'll have one hell of a career if he just matches last year's per game production. He doesn't even necessarily have to improve, just give more of the same

Ideally, a WR2-3 at best. Meredith is only being thrusted into the spotlight because Kevin White's been a disappointment and Alshon left. Hopefully we address WR in free agency next offseason to give Trubisky more to work with.

Im not sure how much of Jordan Mathews you guys have seen but he likes a lot like him, too me. I don't think he's as good as him but I think he can have a similar effect. I think he's the perfect "possession" type WR when you got guys who spread out defenses with speed and explosiveness surrounding him, which we theoretically have in Cruz and White.

Based on the injury sustained and duration of recovery would it be a good idea to trade for a quality receiver?

Good News for Cam

Bears’ Meredith gets good news on injured knee

Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith received arguably the best news possible regarding his injured left knee.

Doctors told Meredith on Tuesday that while the ACL in the knee is torn and will require replacement, other damage is minimal. The prognosis is for a full return in perhaps as soon as eight months.

Meredith was injured at the end of the first quarter of the Bears' exhibition victory Sunday against the Titans when he caught a pass over the middle and was twisted to the turf by safety Johnathan Cyprien. The initial fear was that Meredith had suffered a torn ACL and perhaps other significant damage because of the way his lower leg bent. After swelling subsided, doctors took a close look at Meredith’s knee and determined he has a minor tear in the medial collateral ligament. That alleviated fears that Meredith could be facing a total knee reconstruction and a rehabilitation that could last 12 months or longer. Now Meredith could be on the field as soon as the late spring when the team enters organized team activities.

Meredith is in the final year of his contract and will be a restricted free agent after the season. He led the Bears in receiving in 2016 with 66 receptions for 888 yards and four touchdowns and was slated to be the team’s top receiver this season.
