Interesting story by Kevin O'Conner on The Ringer. Basically said Lebron hated the deal when the Cavs medical staff got a look at IT and Gilbert was flip flopping, but ultimately Crowder and the Nets pick were the best offer on the table. O'Conner painted the picture that Gilbert and the front office are MUCH more concerned with what talking heads say about the team than their own internal decision making and were very concerned about the perception of "winning" the trade.

We can roll with Ish and Galloway while he gets healthy and even if there is no way Id re-sign him to the money he wants, he's expiring and we'd get out from last two years of Reggie. He and Bradley were back court tandem so if he did play this season there would be ready synergy and his intensity and passion would be good for our team and lockerroom (cough Dre).

Maybe it's just me, but I've gotten the vibe from Bradley that he didn't enjoy playing with IT. Basically Bradley was forced to do all of the dirty work and cover up IT's glaring weaknesses while IT got all the praise.

Obviously, if we are able to deal Reggie for IT straight up, it's a no brainer, but if we are really committing to Bradley moving forward, I'd love to pair him with another A+ defensive guard (ideally one with some size to handle 2s) and get back as close to "grit and grind" as the modern NBA will allow.

that would also be a damn near $60M a year backcourt.

As much as I like Mike Conley, it would be a mistake to get older with a "win now" piece.

I'd rather have young players and/or picks. It would be easier to believe the team had some kind of future going in that direction.

No offense but how would a IT2 & AB backcourt cost $60 mil a year?

AB is looking at $20-25 mil

Ain't no team in the league gonna pay IT2 $35-40 mil a year

It's a risk but I'd take it. A healthy Mike Conley could be exactly what this team needs to compete in the east. I just wanna be good again.

No, I'm going off the vibe I've gotten from him through press conferences. He seemed very happy to be dealt here, either he's lying through his teeth or there's a reason he didn't want to play with the Celtics.

?? That's what every player says after a trade. Nobody comes in and gives a presser like "Yeah, I'm under contract, so I guess I have to play here this season." The guys is playing for a huge contract. Only and idiot would sabotage his relationship with the team most likely to offer one.
